OK, I'm fairly new to the Escapist forums and whilst I have a couple of fairly good topics in mind, I'd like a little experience with the forums first. So, for my first thread, Avatars. More specifically, what is yours and why do you use it?

I know, it's not brand-new territory or particularly earth-shattering but I want some experience before I go any deeper.

My avatar is a combination of the logo's of my three favourite games - Portal, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Mass Effect 2.

Mine is based upon a pixel art charicature of The Engineer from Devianart, that is modified ad-hoc for occasions and situations. For example, the current version is a representation of a character I am using in a Science Fiction Role-Play as the character "Devin King, Captain of the FS. Chivalry".

Mine is a kind of abstract eye type thing I made a few years back. I use it because I like to use things that I make myself and I enjoy the slightly sinister effect it has. Also I find eyes to be aesthetically pleasing.

Mine is Shenron the Eternal Dragon of Earth from Dragon Ball. I have it because I love Dragon Ball. I originally had a Goku Avatar, but then I felt I was unworthy of it so I changed to Shenron instead.

I have Kefka because he's the most bad ass villain in history and it matches my user name.

It looks Lovecraftian. Ever played Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth? The later levels feature boss monsters (or sub bosses) known as Polyps (for the love of god, don't google 'Polyp' alone. I can feel the mental scars forming)

The Polyps in Dark Corners acted independently though, and never spun around themselves like what I see in your avatar.

As for my avatar, it's a Chimera I drew while working as a host in a hibachi restaurant. The manager didn't like me drawing in the reservation notebook...I did it anyway. That Chimera is one of the best things I've produced and I wanted to keep it so I tore it out of the book...which I ended up taking anyway...I figure those reservation books are more mine then theirs since I drew in so many of the pages.
