Now here is something a bit silly. Currently, me and my friend are talking about cloning. Now I know there have been a fair share of "If you had a clone..." "What's your opinion of human cloning..." Etc threads on the Escapist. This one is a bit different. (I hope)
So the premise is this. Your best friend is dying due to a terrible accident. (not like a sickness, but something physical) and they ask you to take some of their DNA and clone it. And then become the parent of their clone and watch over it.

Would you do it? Why or Why not?

I would... then I would secretly kill it and sell its skin to scientists for research material.

No. Because s/he is dying, friend may not want to come back and in any case--if you cloned your bff and raised it--you would be his/her parent. Friend wouldn't be your friend anymore, s/he'd be your child.

And that would suck.

No, but I'd quickly clone my friend, harvest the clone and heal my friend with his clone.

*Thinks*

Kinda like the island, but they are flesh sacks instead of humanoids.

No. It wouldn't be the same. Plus, it sounds dangerously close to the premise for a few different horror movies and I don't have time to be viciously murdered by a clone of my best friend.

Same here.
Would you trust a guy who screams into your ear at full volume to raise a kid? I would not.
For me personally, no. Takes time away from important things like stuff I do.

Noooo... because it would actually be your friend you were taking care of. It would be like him asking you to impregnate his wife of GF for him and then raise the child.

I would not, and simply for two reasons. The first being that it would just be completely insensible seeing as a person no matter if they are cloned or no cannot be the exact same person that your friend was, replacing them would be an impossibility. The reasoning behind this is simple, since it is all Context Sensitive, someone brought up in different circumstances and different surroundings and events cannot built their personality the exact same way because they would not have the same life experiences that the original person had encountered to cause their personality to be shifted in the way that it was.

Sorry for rambling off in a bit of a psychological way but the second reason is because.... Raising a child for a good fives years of my life was tough enough as it was, and in no way do I want to raise another one until I get older.

Brilliant!
Why thank you good sir.

Would you like to, shall we say, assist me in the perfection of the skinning process?

No, it's the other way around, you raise them.
haha, then in that case, no. I wouldn't trust me to raise my friends.
