I keep noticing random threads like "music to fall to your death to" and "songs to be played at your funeral". Quite frankly, screw those depressing thoughts. I'd like to hear about the music you listen to during everyday events in your life.

Does anyone have any songs, artists, or playlists they listen to often while doing some specific task? I, for instance, listen to Chopin when I browse the Escapist and the White Stripes when I do my French homework. My roommate listens to Ben Folds when he plays Minecraft and Kaiser Chiefs when he reads Deadpool comics.

Anyone else have these sorts of musical associations?

Generic reponse: I listen to "Eye of the Tiger" whenever I bother doing exercise

Serious response: I can't think of any specific artists I listen to while doing any specific tasks. To me it's not specific songs or artists, it's more about the kind of music. For example, whenever I'm late for something and am rushing to get there on time, I've normally got fast-faced or grand-scaled classical music going (Beethoven's 9th and Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King' being particular favourites).

Using a particular example: when tidying up my room, I always have pop music (normally 80s pop, but can dip into modern times) playing on my headphones. Just yesterday I tidied my entire room while listening to the combined music of ABBA, Duran Duran, and the song "All the Lovers" by Kyle Minogue.

I have been using Immediate Music's Prometheus Rising. It's so good, it makes me want to get up and save the universe, but as I'm probably one of the least healthy people on this site, it just hurts. Still some awesome music.

Weather I'm working, playing video games, or surfing the web, when I have music playing, Rush will be the majority of it. I've also been listening to The Cars a lot lately.

Blockhead is an artist I like to listen on any occasion. Especially when I'm working on anything creative. Or repetitive.

Artists like Jose Gonzales or Simon & Garfunkel when I want to enjoy calmness.

I like to listen to music while gaming as well. Considering I really don't need to hear things from the games. So games with speech are right out, for example. The artists vary greatly. Usually it's something I have on sort of heavy-repeat. It can be a new album I'm diving into. Or older music that I want to listen again.

It's more about the feeling and desire of a certain type of music at a given time, than certain music for specific occasions.

Oh, and on the last couple of days I've listened to Pendulum some time after waking up to actually wake up.

I usually listen to a lot of music during a day, and Hip Hop / Rap is my passion, probably 90% of all music I listen to being at least very closely related to that genre, so I usually have rap music for any activity.

Cage the Elephant Pandora Station for just about everything.

Oddly enough, the channel rarely plays Cage the elephant.

I often put Daft Punks Alive 2007 on when I'm at work. It just has such a good, upbeat tempo that gets me in a good mood, and keeps me motivated on getting through the day.

David Bowie's Moss Garden from the album Heroes is very good to just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. It also happens to be a good song to meditate to.

I listen to mainly Viking and Power metal throughout the day. Of current I've been listening to Ensiferum more and more. I saw them two days ago actually. My favourite Ensiferum song that I listen to most often:

I tend to listen to Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Art Blakely, that sort of thing while I'm working. The Bugle podcast on trains. Various British and Irish folk bands while I'm walking. All this is subject to change on a daily basis.

I wake up to Voltaire's album "Boohoo", and throughout today I was listening to songs from his albums "The devils bris", "Live!", "To the bottom of the sea", "Ooky spooky" and "Almost human". I am currently waiting for his "Hate lives in a small town" album to finish downloading.

Through my roommate I have also been listening to Winston Churchill's speeches and songs from World war II as he is a history buff and loves this kind of thing. Sometimes I wonder if he has travelled through time from the 1930's or 1940's.

I listen to California Girls and other songs by that music artist while walking around University.

Wait, why are you giving me those funny looks? Oh! You thought I was talking about Katy Perry? No, no, no.
