My definition of a good game is that I enjoy playing it. So a certain amount of fun is required. Still, my definitions of a "FUN GAME" ... Is another story. I still play Age of Empires, and have a lot of FUN with it. More recently, I have had a lot of fun GTA 4 Balad of Gay tony.

Fun,replay value, emotional impact and Memorability.

I also like games where you get to be the bad guy, like overlord 1 and 2... and not like overlord 1 and 2... because they sucked ass.

Immersion
Interaction

Immersion is visuals & story
Interaction is gameplay and length/replayability

also variety & addictiveness.

Gameplay and writing. Everything else just enhances that. Admittedly if something has a poor story I'm gonna judge the gameplay much more harshly but if I'm having fun then it's a good game. For the people saying story is everything - take a game with an incredibly bad story but very good gameplay and writing, that's probably one of the most popular games on these forums (Portal).

Immersive gameplay, good controls, a long play length or high re-playability, and either good graphics or a good art style helps.
Some sort of co-op or multiplayer mode is also a plus.

If a game immerses me and I really want to be playing it when ever i'm not then I define that as a good game. Something that keeps drawing me back in essentially.

As long as it is fun to play, I like it. I like games to have a good story, but that is a secondary concern to fun, as is graphics (as long as I can tell what's going on).

The core gameplay has to be fun, if a game does that it's usually pretty good. Although, there are several other factos such as length, replay value, immersion, graphics and even the quality of the game itself. A game with lots of polish would make a better first impression than a really buggy game.

Story, atmosphere and immersion are what make a good game to me. Sure it has to be at least a bit of fun, but I can overlook mediocre gameplay for these things.

I used to think that combining a good story, characters and gameplay were what made a good game good.
But then I played Wet.

Turns out it's just the gameplay.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again (I should start copypasta-ing this stuff...)

1)Good gameplay
2)Good story

I can have point 1 without point 2, but not the other way around. I need to enjoy the game first and foremost, after all. If both points are together, then that's a damned good game and likely among my top favorite games.
Your avatar makes me want to kill things. That being said, I agree completely with your point.

The definition of a good game to me is one that I think about when I am not playing it. A good game should make me say "I can't wait to get home and play _____".

A game that enjoy playing. I play many games so I don't think there is a general framework of attributes I can pick for any game to make it good for me.

Addictive.

If it feels like a chore playing it or i'm not having fun then it's not good. That means engaging characters, lots of good writing and voice acting and a good plot, I can usually excuse average gameplay if I'm engaged.

Fun, keeps me interested for large periods of time, preferably co-op, and it doesn't hurt if it looks nice too.

I would agree with you with most games, but Zeno Clash managed to do the good story without entirely enthralling gameplay.
