As the title says. My favorite enemies to fight aren't the enemies with absurd amounts of health or ridiculously damaging weapons, but ones that use good tactics and realistic behaviors. I enjoy fighting the Bodark enemies in Ghost Recon Future Soldier the most. They're tactically some of the smartest enemies I've ever fought in gaming. They stay behind cover most of the time, move up on your position from cover to cover, attack as a group, use EMP and Flash grenades tactically and overall work as a group rather than individuals.

I also like the enemies in Splinter Cell: Conviction for similar reasons. If you're detected, they quickly move to cover, rarely going out in the open. To eliminate you, some enemies will stay in the back to suppress you while other enemies move up on your position. They also never bunch up to make themselves easy prey for a frag grenade and will usually split up to attack you from multiple angles.

My final enemies who I enjoy fighting the most are the FSB troops from MW2. The FSB with riot shields attack you in formation, using their riot shields for cover and moving as a group. For example, if a frag grenade is thrown at them, they will move backwards while staying in a line, although they sometimes scatter (but they quickly get back in formation). I swear I've even seen them throw grenades back at me. The FSB without riot shields will move aggressively on your position from cover to cover, relying on the suppressing fire of the riot shield enemies to keep you pinned. Many times I've been cowering behind a wall as the impenetrable phalanx of FSB resist my attempts to push through their defenses when an FSB troop armed with a SPAS-12 gets in my face and blasts me to oblivion.

So, what are your favorite enemies to fight in gaming?

I like enemies where you get a lot of combat options. My favorite of all time are probably the Hunters from HL2 Episode 2. The first encounter is basically in a physics playground where you can climb around on houses, pick up and throw a ton of objects, jump through windows to try to escape, and even drive a car into the Hunters.

For similar reasons I like fighting groups of bandits, mercs, or felsworn in Skyrim. They aren't overpowered, but they'll overwhelm you if you let them, so you have to be tactical. I'm a marksman/illusion/thief build, so I tend to sneak around and turn them against each other.

Specifically, I loved fighting the Iron Knuckles/Dark Nutts from Wind Waker and, Twilight Princess. The combat system made fighting them really fluid and a lot of fun, especially in Wind Waker where you can cut off their armor. As a side note: I haven't fought a boss in Twilight Princess yet that wasn't fun (including mini-bosses). I haven't beaten Twilight Princess yet though...Stallord was the last big-bad I defeated.

Bouncer model big daddies from Bioshock. Mostly just because they look and act awesome.

The raptor things in Dead Space 2. I liked the way they actually stalk you and try to blindside you.

Other people. Knowing that I just outgunned or outsmarted a human being rather than a series of ones and zeros is, to me, one of the best things ever. Unfortunately, since I live too far away from most other multiplayer people, most games screw me over with 250 millisecond lag - that's why I go for League of Legends; a ping of 190-200 is a lot less of a handicap there.

If it is just ones and zeros, though, I like the feeling of having plowed through a massive horde of bad guys without anyone else hogging the kills. I also find that the terrain can be just as much or even more of a challenge than the enemies, at least in platformers, which I generally love playing.

I enjoy fighting turn-based RPG bosses (specifically those found in Final Fantasy X and the Xenosaga series).

Each well thought out boss has a very specific weakness that one must exploit or the boss has some unique abilities/tactics that make them nearly impossible to beat. This completely breaks the mold of the game, where your random encounters can be sorted out by having the bigger stick or rolling with the highest numbers possible.

They are challenging and force you to actually think in order for you to defeat them and proceed.

Space Aliens!

- Dead Space 2: Dismemberment combat never gets old! Love the way the zombies flinch and draw back when they get hit.

- Gears of War 3: I particularly like the locust bosses, they're tough and challenging, but almost never cheap or unfair.

- HALO (particularly reach): excellent enemy variety and AI, but bland weapons.

- Mass Effect 3: I'm not sure what to put here, I do like the way that enemies give a pretty solid challenge, but there are a lot of bugs and cheap "insta-perma-kill" attacks. The real strength is that the enemies will force you to make good use of your powers, and I do like that.

Elites from Halo. Even after all these years I still feel they offer the best in AI and fair challenge.

The Rebel alliance in Star Wars Battlefront 1/2.

I hate the Rebels anyway, and beating them in a crushing defeat is ALWAYS satsifying.

Massive bosses.
Could be any game, but I'm focussing on Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma, as well as Monster Hunter.
Downing an entire room of lackeys is cool and all, but the real feeling of accomplishment comes from looking

or

square in the eyes, and after 30 minutes of non-stop fighting, finally claiming victory.
However, don't get me started on this asshole:

Throw in the Hunters from Reach and you have some of the best AI ever. A good fight in a video game should not be against an absurdly gargantuan boss. I find they break immersion because by all measures they should snap your guy in half with a glancing blow. The best bosses/enemies to fight are those that are the same size as you, and equally skilled in combat as you. It's because it then ceases to be a boss battle, and actually just a duel of who is faster.

Mine are those necromorphs from dead space 2 that run from cover to cover poke their head out for half a second then banzi charge and beat the crap out off you. Unless you shoot them. If you miss repeat first action. When I hear their scream I get stop moving and check all cover in the area. The reason they are awesome is only because I feel like I'm being hunted not just being attacked.

My favourite? Duels.

Pretty much every game has you against a giant, or a robot, or a monster, or something. What I love is a fight against an equal, an enemy that doesn't need super size to kick your ass.

In Bayonetta, it was Jeanne, or Balder, or a Joy. In Dark Souls, it was Gywn, or any Darkwraiths that invaded me. Having to time your attacks and counter something built to exploit your every weakness? That's a real challenge.

Aside from that though, anything with clever AI's usually a positive for me. I love seeing the AI flank me or work together to back me into a corner, even by accident.

I like fighting hordes, so I think zombies are great enemies (for me).

So on Day Z it's really fun when this happens....

I loved fighting the Darknut from LoZ too since it felt like a duel and it took brains to defeat it. I mean you can't just bash the armour away to killed it.

The Joys in Bayonetta. Since I can actually dodge their shit near 100% of the time. They can still own your face if you let them hit you but lol dodge.

The default Angels who have one easy as piss attack are fun to fight just because they suck so hard. They can be free Witch Time buttons if you dodge them then combo the more threatening guy next to him and keep the crappy guy alive to extort more WT from him.

Then they spam those annoying guys with the claws that refuse to give you any WT whatsoever and hit so damn hard...

Oh and a few Champions in League of Legends I can enjoy playing against. Jarven IV for example because nine out of ten times his Ultimate will fuck his own team over in teamfights ^^

A bad Jarven is basically a 6v4.

Also Darius when i'm playing the more speedy Champions, I swear I see another Darius Flash at me to catch up to my amazing Ahri Ultimate I will have to cry with laughter.

1 teleport on a 3 minute cooldown? ***** 3 teleports on a 70 second cooldown. The escapes! They're too good!

Now with added Foxfires! Love the new skin.

But if we're talking about Champions I can't stand. Both Ziggs and Heimerdinger are free this week...

This week is going to be beyond painful for me. If it's not Ziggs with his rage inducing traps and bouncing bombs it's Heimer and his lane/bush full of stupidly effective turrets.

Fuck maybe even both... Focus on the sexy Ahri voice and you'll be fi-OH GODDAMNIT WHY IS THE CHARM SO THIN!?

I swear i'll figure out when to time the 3 teleports in teamfights... All I know is that wasting all three stacks just dancing around their team is the fastest way to get yourself instakilled...

Suppose i'm meant to Q/W between ults? Probably...

Depends on the type of game. In platformers, the Koopas are my favorite enemy due to the mayhem you can cause with their shells.
In hack and slash games I like fighting big dudes/monsters especially if I'm a fast character.
In FPS I enjoy fighting enemies like that require a lot of jumping around to dodge.
In RPGs, I like fighting rare encounters with gimmicks.

Oh fuck that guy! You fight for thirty minutes straight while he spends half of that time floating in the air and all of a sudden he hits you with the bolts of insta-kill lightning. His armour isn't even that great but you pretty much have to do it (three or four times) just to say that you did it...

As for me, I'm quite a fan of taking out hordes of enemies. It's a great feeling when you see an army of 200 or so troops charging at you and all you do is stand there laughing in their face and make a pyramid out of their corpses. Just to see an even bigger horde on the horizon to make an even bigger pyramid.
I also really enjoy fighting really huge enemies but only really if they can provide suitable enough challenge to match their size (like that prick in the picture above). While it's mindblowing to take out really huge enemies without much effort

Yes. That's the Earth below him and Yes. He's poking you

nothing is more satisfying than taking out huge bastards after a long grueling struggle
