Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Very fun and unique platforming experience, great implementation of time control, excellent characters and actors, great graphics (for the time), great ending, and a good story. It was just an all-around great game.

Final Fantasy X. Just has stuck in my head since I played it in high school. Loved the ending, although Tidus was more than a little gay.

Halo 1,2,3
The trilogy stands as having great music, action heavy and addcitive gameplay, a very descent storyline, colourful visuals, strong voice acting, great multiplayer with enough customisable choices to... do... something analagous to what I just said. Seriously my favourite game trilogy hands down.

(Vrex patiently waits for someone to tell him how his own subjective personal opinion is incorrect)

now i'm not going to tell you that you are a dumbass but i will say that strong voice acting is a bit....weird. They got a deep voiced man to talk for the chief and that is all. and by customisable choices do you mean that you can change the colour of your armour?

Okay first off, listen to the voices during cutscenes there are some nice strong emotional moments plus Johnson always sounds cool.
By customization I was actually talking about the forge option and the ability to make your own gametypes with a lot of choices on how this gametype plays. I honestly just think that has to be worth something.

you make a fair point when you say you can customise...stuff in forge but in the end it boils down to who saw the other one first and started shooting first. by the way, listen to the master chief as johnson is dying. i don't really call that sad. he says it like he says everything else. apart from the master chief (whom i hate) i must say the rest of the characters are alright.

All I have to say is decent storyline my arse, jesus christ it sounds like its been written by someone who walked into a plot store couldnt decide which one he wanted so he just grabbed a handful out of the bargin bucket... come on

on that one i have to agree with Vrex. the plot is one of those "not too bad" sort of storylines. there isn't anything wrong with it that horribly cripples anything.... except the flood being able to wipe out worlds but the chief and arby managed to destroy them all in a day.

Doom

It's legendary in the FPS genre.... and still holds up today as a solid, fun shooter.

I've said this a dozen times but my fave game is 'Private Eye' based on the book 'The Little Sister' by Raymond Chandler, who is the best crime/mystery/pulp writer ever. The game is presented like a noir comic book and the characters are animated very realisticly with their movements and actions. There were some movie-like animations when Philip Marlowe, the main character, drives around town from one location to another.

The game is one of those 'interactive book' type games and you pretty much can't fail it as long as you keep the plot moving. Sometimes I really had to think about putting pieces together and having missed vital clues due to my wandering attention span, I scanned through my copy of the book and pieced whatever clues I missed together.

I guess I'm biased because I'm a Raymond Chandler/ Philip Marlowe fan, but I haven't yet thought so fondly about a game since I first played Private Eye.

I don't really have a favourite game above all, but one of my favourites is SBB Melee because it's easier to do special moves compared to all other fighting games, I love the gameplay, interesting weapons, variety of stages, many different challenges and there is a level of skill I am aiming for.

Do you honestly...HONESTLY think this thread hasnt been made before?

Anyway....Morrowind for atmosphere/amount of time could spend getting sunk into it.
