Easy topic, just list what you like.

For my part, I'm not a massive fan of the Escapist but I still enjoy posting here to get my two cents in on a variety of topics which are (usually) intelligent.

OT: My favorite forum had to be Charlie Oscar Delta. I had signed on to it for one big reason: the Call of Duty 4 Beta. That was fucking AWESOME and was about all I played for six months, but I slowly got dragged into the community in an attempt to win a variety of prizes and then to keep up with a bunch of friends I made online. Hell, some of us still play Xbox Live together. I think that it's a testament to our community that we managed to survive two forum shifts: when COD was shut down, we all moved to the IW forums where we picked up a few other people but couldn't stand the overbearing moderators. We decided that enough was enough when one of us was banned for, and I quote, "beating a dead horse" by posting about the overpoweredness of the RPD and we moved to yet another forums- Gaming 4 Life.

That has since been also shut down, but I find it impressive that we still play online together and are involved in each other's lives. I remember one time where I helped a friend out of depression involving a divorce by talking to him while playing some Gears of War 2 Horde. Another time when I had my knee broken and was having trouble walking (let alone playing my sports, which are some of the few things I love) a few guys did the same for me.

Anyway, who are your favorites?

I've been spending a lot of time on Overclock.net, a great forum for PC hardware enthusiasts. They actually link to articles from The Escapist quite often for gaming news. I also like their rep system which rewards people for being helpful.

Bungie.net, but I bet you can't guess who's who.

I dare you. Go on, try. Or not, whatever.

I would honestly say that if the ScrewAttack forums were more active, I would spend more time there than here. They're much friendlier to people with views who differ from the majority on the site in general, and my own views just tend to be closer to the majority there anyway. I dunno, I just feel that I would be more welcome to express my own views there and not be afraid to be flamed to death because I'm an American citizen, I'm not a left-wing atheist and Nintendo is one of my favorite game companies. They're also just as polite and intelligent on those forums as they are here. But sadly, they're not nearly as active as these forums, so I still spend the great majority of my time here because this place is still better than most gaming forums I've visited.

I really like Game Informer's community, as I've said before.
It's a fairly nice place, but I haven't really taken a huge part in the forums, just the user groups and comment sections.

Bestiality in Skyrim? Huh?
And I thought you couldn't kill kids.
Or am I reading that wrong?

There was a whole huge debate about whether being able to marry an Argonian/Khaji'it was bestiality. Obviously, it isn't, but some people are morons anyway. And the kid killing was me asking for a link to the mod which enables it.
Ah.
Well, I suppose being able to kill kids would make the game more immersive, but I don't really see why not being able to is an issue.
Could you enlighten me?
(Not judging, just interested)

Man... I haven't been to Screwattack since Handsome Tom left. How is the site these days? Is evil overlord Stuttering Craig still a bastard?

I used to go to Gametalk x.0, a truly awful site made as a tribute to the original Gametalk.com, which was notable for its very eccentric community. It wasn't what you'd call a friendly site, but it was definitely interesting. Lot of oddballs there.

I also visit the RPGCodex from time to time, to laugh at how incredibly hostile and negative they are to nearly everything.

I really like the community of Harmony Central's Electric Guitar forum---everyone is really friendly and informative, and the site moves quickly. The only odd thing is the preponderance of boobs in avatars, but once that's gotten around it's a great forum.

And finally, I visit Destructoid very often, but I admittedly don't use the forums very much. I think I've made maybe two comments there.

I just find it silly that kids are somehow magically protected. If I'm going to go on a massacre - which I have done in previous Elder Scrolls games - I don't want annoying midgets, and they are annoying, being left behind. I save then kill Wood Elves all the time because they're annoying, why not kids?

It's not like it's that different to killing a normal person either, I've never understood that stigma.
I think it's the whole "Children are innocent" thing.
It's probably also to avoid the inevitable press outcry from them releasing a game where you can kill kids.

Well, the media tends to see things only on the most basic level, and go from there.
They see: This game lets you kill kids, therefore killing kids is encouraged.
Many -not all- journalists tend to want to release a big story, instead of an accurate one.
Which gets the most views?

I said I understand that part. What I don't understand is why even gamers are fine with slaughtering thousands of innocent people in Skyrim, but 'don't understand' why you'd want to kill kids and think anyone who would like that option to be mentally unstable.
I honestly don't know. While I generally play "Good" characters, I don't see why it's a huge issue. As long as people aren't killing kids in games for the sake of just killing kids, then I just don't really get why there'd be a problem, either.
Maybe it's just an ingrained cultural thingy.

Game Informer's community,
Lol, looking at the Game informer forums:

'The official Skyrim thread' - Thought wow someone actually had the sense to put all the Skyrim threads in one place unlike here.

Scroll down -> Skyrim thread, Skyrim thread, Skyrim thread, Skyrim thread, Skyrim thread.

Nevermind.

A mix between Reddit and Facepunch.

Facepunch is... okay... just that everyone there can graded on a douchebag scale. Reddit I mainly go for the news.

Well, I didn't say they were perfect.
The community itself is pretty nice, though. A lot of the people mean well.

I browse SPUF (Steam Powered Users Forums) quite frequently, to discuss TF2 and other games
