A quick thread for you telling everyone about singers/groups you like that nobody really seems to know about. Mine are Ray Koefoed, a songwriter who mainly worked on HL2 videos with music (Task Mistress, Reign of the Disruptors, Sum of a Body, etc) but also writing songs about pizza and waffles. Next up is the IZA, aka Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse. Self explanatory, they write songs about the zombie apocalypse.

I'd say it doesn't get much more obscure than this, but here is a song with less than 10,000 youtube views, and less than 1,000:

No-one I know apart from my metal friend (who introduced me to these guys in the first place) knows any of these, so congratulations if anyone here does.

Let's see, we have Kraftwerk, the first electronic band ever, starting in 1970:

Next, The Alan Parsons Project, a neat prog band from the '70's and '80's:

Finally, Kitchens of Distinction, a shoegazing band from the '80's and '90's that had some great music:

Holy shit somebody else has heard of Black Comedy.

Anyway, here are a few of obscure bands in my collection.

I'm not entirely sure how obscure most of these are, but a doubt a vast majority of people here have heard of them, so I think they all should count.

Hehe, try identifying Mord Fustang. One of my favorite electro house artists. His best song is lick the rainbow. Look it up on youtube.

Wait Kraftwerk is obscure? Most of my friends know who they are...

OT: They're not really obscure, but they are in the states

A Hermit's Cave
Ilaria Graziano...

God, I'd love to make love to her singing voice... -_- not bothering to post that song, since I've posted it enough times around here... probably will do sometime in the future when I've forgotten about this post...

Which song are you referring to? She was actually who I was going to post about, shucks. Her voice is truly amazing, one of my favorite female singers actually. I love it when she does music for anime's especially. Christmas In The Silent Forest is my favorite anime ending theme period. :)

I Can't Be Cool is also very awesome too!
Love both of those songs (well, now I do). When I first listened to Christmas in the Silent Forest, I was a bit *meh* about it, same as with Monochrome, but it's really good actually.

The 'that song' I was referring to was this:

It's even better when you know what the song's about. *sways*

By any chance, have you been looking at my music related posts, or something?

I thought I was the only one who knew about KOD, other than maybe ArtificallyProlonged, who I thought was the only Shoegazer on the Escapist other than myself.

Nice to see others have taken a liking to my music, it makes me feel...proud...kinda.

I learned about KOD from a post on another obscure music thread here, so it must've been a post by you. In that case, thanks for the recommendation, KOD is a great band.

I feel the same way about your song, coincidentally! It took me a bit to get used to it, but I really enjoy I Do now. I'm curious though, what is the song about?
I Do is... I can't really describe it in terms of its lyrics, but it's about personal struggle and looking to the future. It starts out despondent and waiting for upheaval, then a struggle to come to terms with a change (or perhaps a refusal to acknowledge the change), the difficulties that come with it, before ending with hope and the belief that things will be better.

Have you heard any of the music she did for Cowboy Bebop? It's all pretty great, while still sounding a bit different!

Skip to 1:00 if you want to skip the dream like intro. :)
Funny you should ask that! I was just listening to this:

The sax complements her voice really well. And yah, Einstein Groovin' was a good song, trippy at points, but definitely a very different sound from what I know in her songs, still very catchy, though. A lot of credit to Yoko Kanno for being such an awesome songwriter as well!

Don't mention it, It has been made my duty to spread the word on Shoegaze.

Here's another obscure favourite shoegaze band of mine.

Ha! Amazing. We're like on a close wavelength right now. :)

I honestly had no idea. I need to listen to that song now with what you said in my mind. :)
*is pleasantly surprised* Not sure how to respond to that! >_<

There is one bit in the song that never fails to tug on the heartstrings, when there's a piano chord played at 3:23-4 between the 'I do' x 2, and the alto-A of the chord gets at me... *sigh* ... !!

What makes it even awesomer is:

'I do, I do emerge from the depths to fight and then
Go higher than ever before.'

Einstein Groovin' was really great in my opinion because it sounded different. Had a bit of electronic sounds mixed in with the jazzy tunes that Cowboy Bebop is known for. At first, the song confused me more then anything but now it's my second favorite song by her. :)
The Seatbelts... a pity that it only lasted as long as Cowboy Bebop's OST was in production, but most of their guest vocalists were pretty darn good, and it's amazing how it was such a multi-national output. I'm not the biggest fan of jazz about, but it's a great, if strange, place to acquire a taste for it! -_-

I really don't know how obscure they are but Dark Dark Dark is magnificent.
And Iron and Wine.

...Stil not sure if either of those could be considered especially obscure though, I guess.
