I've been on a streak of watching old movies the last couple days. What are your favorite old movies? I'm looking for movies made before 1970.

For myself, it's a tough choice; a toss-up between Dr. Strangelove, A Hard Day's Night, Casablanca, and a couple of Alfred Hitchcock movies.

I'll go with Dr. No and North by Northwest. Both awesome. Also, the Beatles' "Help" movie was pretty great.

Would you consider the Sergio Leone Dollars Trilogy old enough to qualify? Some of the Ray Harryhausen movies are alright, like Jason and the Argonaughts etc.

Edit: Just checked, the Dollars Trilogy is old enough, it takes the cake and eats it too.

Arsenic and Old Lace

If you have not seen this, see it NOW!

It got #1 in funniest movies of the century last century, and for good reason.

Don't suppose Star Wars counts.

If not, I don't really know. I haven't actually seen too many old movies. :C
Star Wars was late 70's.

The oldest movies I've seen and liked are usually in the 60's.

That being said, I'm going with Dr. Strangelove.

Let's go international.

Kurosawa, and not Seven Samurai, which everyone -should- see. Ikuru.

The Seventh Seal.

Cinema Paraiso.

Laura. Damn good crime noir.

Some Like It Hot. So funny, and so good. Tony Curtis was so good looking when he was younger. WHAT HAPPENED. ;___;

Depends on the definition of old.

Pre-2000's: Pulp Fiction
Pre-90's: Raiders of the Lost Ark
Pre-80's: Arsenic and Old Lace
Pre-40's: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Pre-30's: The Lost World
Pre-20's: The Mystic Swing
