What was your favorite mode of transport in a game?

Can be anything, let's not be fussy about what constitutes a vehicle, if you move around in it it counts.

I shall start us off with:

The Walkers in Red Faction: Guerrilla-

for their wonderfully smooth way of making the entire infrastructure of Mars tumble down around you

The Mech suits in F.E.A.R. 2-

for the way they made you feel completely baddass and powerful in short bursts,

plus having rocket launchers for arms is always fun.

Also for their totally retro startup sequence... that was just too cool.

I liked the Faggio in Vice City.

It was the ONLY way to travel in style.

In regards to mechs, I'd say the Shogun Exercutioner.

I'll probably get laughed at for this, but I like the Mako.
A lot of people liked it.

I personally hated it, but it was more the boring terrain given to us to explore rather than the vehicle itself.

Though it really did suck that the boosters blasted you AWAY from the slope you were climbing...

<spoiler=Timberwolf>http://www.timdp.members.sonic.net/battletech/picture/MadCatColor72.jpg

I've always liked the aesthetics as it stands apart from the Japano giant robots thant are basically men in armoured suits (or bugs, or angels or whatever).
It looks more ike a machine instead of a machine trying to be some kind of creature, it also behaves as a proper machine rather than some over powered flying balet dancer. It's almost an icon for the difference between far eastern giant robots and western 'mechs.

That it's the best all round mech in 2 and 3 didn'thurt either...

Technically, a Dreadnought counts as a mode of transportation. So I'm going with it.

I do enjoy flying the helicopters in GTA IV and Prototype. Flying low to the ground and inbetween the skyscrapers is a fun way to spend an hour or two

Yeah 40k has some nice tanks, but I think the Baneblade is way more awesome than that.

What game is that from? It's awesome looking. Is it Warhammer?
Yeah, Warhammer 40k.
A Dreadnought is made when a Space Marine who is considered a hero even among the ranks of his brethren is mortally wounded and deemed to important to let him die. So the Apothecaries get him stable as best they can and the Techmarines ready a sarcophagus, which is what you see on the picture. The wounded Marine is placed inside the structure in the middle of the exoskeleton and becomes technically immortal, his bioelectrical energy feeding the life support systems which in turn keep him going forever, provided he is not destroyed in combat; these Dreadnoughts are the most revered and valued brethren in any chapter, and their state allows them to battle the foes of the Emperor for milennia to come.
You have access to these units when playing the Space Marines in the 'Dawn of War' games.

Dude, if you forget about the controls, it was a tank with jumpjets a scope. What's not to love?
