Ever since I got my key for Dota 2 a few months ago I've been playing it religiously and absolutely love it. I've tried many characters but I find I have the most success and fun with these top five:

1. Bloodseeker - Great if you get a good start and rupture just makes him amazing in ganks.

2. Vengeful Spirit - I like supporting with Venge with her stun, vengeance aura and nether swap for setting up a carry for a kill

3. Spirit Breaker - Good for ganks but I have the most fun with him cruising around picking off loners.

4. Bane - Perfect for ganking in my opinion, with all 4 of his abilities you disable half a team.

5. Weaver - My favourite assassiny hero, definitely one of my most fun to play.

So what are your favourite heroes?

I've yet to play them all, or probably even 25% of them. But of the ones I've tried:

1. Viper. Easy as hell to use. Passives and toggles. Absolutely lethal in the early laning/ganking stage. Even in disastrous games I tend to have a good K/D ratio with Viper.

2. Luna. Fast, solid hero. Like her voice acting too. Super easy to farm/push with once you've got her a little leveled.

3. Broodmother. Love the webs and lurking invisible in the lane.

4. Jakiro. Very straightforward, sensible, all around easy to understand and fun to play hero. Bit slow.

5. Lina. Punchy as hell, but fragile.

Gryocopter is probably my favourite, simply because I can play him well. I'm also really good at Visage and all the 'crap' characters according to my friends.

Oh, and fuck everything about Drow Ranger.

I think I've had the most fun with Warlock by far, I love his heal. Dazzle is pretty awesome, too.

To use:

Invoker because once you get Aghanim's he becomes all kinds of silly.
Rubick because killing a Luna with her own Ultimate is fantastic.
Dark Seer because he has great utility at every point in a match.
Medusa to spite the people complaining she's too ugly.

To fight because they're just so bad:

Bloodseeker. Pub-Level ganker and anti-noob hero, but nothing more.
Meepo. Because the few that play him generally don't have the micro to back it up.
Bad Invokers. Because I can laugh at their pathetic attempts at combos.

Invoker, because being able to insta-kill all but the fattest heroes at level 13 once every minute is awesome.
Ogre Magi, because it's hilarious to see people rage about how I "always get 4x".
Rubick, because of how versatile he is and how fulfilling it is to kill someone with their ult.
Clockwerk, because initiating from halfway across the map is awesome.
Morphling used to be fun, until they nerfed him into the ground.

Its more team composition for me rather than which hero. Once you start playing CM exclusively and start IHing, you will see that the same 10-15 heroes are picked over and over. Its nice to play on a team where you go in an all out strat or putting your eggs in a weird basket (cutting mid with Axe and Dazzle for example).

If I had to pick a single hero, its Slark. He is so underpowered it is not funny, but he is so much fun.

Invoker's a blast, and something about picturing the frustration of other people after I've just one shot them with Bounty Hunter gives me a kind of vindictive glee I should probably talk to a therapist about.

Nyx-

In addition to being the lone bad ass; avatar and lone assassin of the night goddess, he's got a kick ass voice over, and ,my favorite playstyle; stealthy, quick and dirty take downs. Blast the opponents to pieces in one wallop. With his spiked carapace, I also experience the most deliciously satisfying counters when killing a lina with her own blade, or a sniper with his ult. You also can't say no to a guy based off the nerubian crypt lords, some of the best-designed units in Wc3.

Rubick-

Rare in that his design seems not to be based on any Wc3 character, but it's a great look for him nonetheless. Being the kirby of Dota, I love his playstyle. Like nyx's carapace, I have a thing for turning an enemy against itself. He's got my favorite super power-telekinesis, and is an intellectual scholar. Gotta respect that. His lines are great in their delivery, and he quite reminds me of myself, actually... If I were a lot older and had magic powers. His voice filter. That too.

Outworld-

Another favored playstyle of mine, high-damage lancer. He also is more powerful the smarter he is than his opponents, lovely. He's also probably got the best voice set and dialogues in the game. That cutting pain you felt was our intellect, indeed. Also based on a great Wc3 design; the obsidians.

Sven-

Another great voice set, visual design, and an awesome backstory. Took an entire knights' guild on his own, cleaves through foes like butter, and of course... no matter how tough your opponents, the fight will always be worth it in that one moment where you catch 3 or more of em in a storm bolt, and proceed to cut them all in half with one critical strike swing.

Rubick, Wisp, and Shadow Shaman.
I like disablers and support. There's always something to do.

I'll just copy paste what I said in the group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/DotA-2]

Meepo. Because doing the blink-poof trick is satisfying as fuck. Also, because I can jungle and lane at the same time.

Night Stalker: Because running around the map murdering people here and there at night while all that they do is try and run away gives me a big grin

Shadow Fiend: Because wiping the entire enemy team with a single well-placed ult is boss

Storm Spirit: Great responses, great abilities, great fun hero.

Rubick: Nice spell you have there mate, mind if I try it out too?

Witch Doctor is awesome, so many stuns, a great ganker and a good support too.

Also Bounty Hunter and Drow Ranger.

Riki, but I doubt this will last after I actually become competent at the game, he seems to be built around a first order optimal strategy. (To clarify on the competency comment, Riki is the only character I can play, anyone else I start losing badly around the level 8-14 phase of the game.)

Lina. Accept no substitutes!

Other than that, I love playing Windrunner too, she's pretty much always viable, and she's good at almost anything.

Aside from that, there's Rubick, Sand King, Tinker, Dragon Knight...
I actually like most heroes. It depends on the teams.

Bounty Hunter, Queen of Pain and Gyro are probably my most played. Though I have so much fun playing Night Stalker, Zeus and Broodmother.
