If we didn't have it in games, they would be dull and boring. It always seems to fit any given situation, whether be it in an action game or as one of our main characters die. We need it to play. I am, of course, talking about the music, in games.

So. I was sitting on youtube, because I was bored and didn't know what to play, when suddenly this:slipped into view, for unknown reasons.

If you're too lazy to hear it, it's the Legend of Zelda theme song, performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

I'm not too tough to admit a tiny tear appeared in the corner of my eye and I booted Ocarina of Time on my N64 for the first time in many, many years. Without it being the nostalgia talking, I honestly believe this to be my favourite musical score for any game.

What's yours? Whether it being Nobou Uematsu's Final Fantasy Tracks, Harry Gregersons Metal Gear 4 Theme or Mjolnir's Halo Presentation, which is your all-time favourite?

Feel free to add several if you can't decide.

EDIT: I know people to be too lazy to check out the songs on youtube. Thus I will 'fix' all links given, so the player appears in the thread itself. At least while I'm online. We all derserve to hear all the great music :)

That's Requiem for A Dream :) It's not a Zelda Theme. It was used originally to promote Lord of The Rings.

The music in general from Tales of the Abyss; Listening to the soundtrack is great...the music is a pleasure to listen to through the long hours of gameplay. Each city and dungeon has its own unique music that is instantly identifiable. I could go on for hours :p but I won't. I study music from Television, film and video games (that's a part of ethnomusicology for anyone who cares)
Here's the opening theme, anyway

Night of Fate from Kingdom Hearts

Also, Gerudo Valley from LoZ: Ocarina of Time

And The Final Battle from Final Fantasy X

Take those three series (Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy) and add Chrono Trigger, and those are one of my favorite video game soundtracks.

PS. Yes, I like my RPG music.

I'll definetly agree with you on the first 2, that they're excellent pieces of music.

Fallout 3,
hearing the phrase "crazy in love" while someone's head is exploding into hundreads of pieces
just can't beat that, in a funny way.

Zelda for best soundtrack, if you think you beat that you are mistaken.

Absolutely. The 30's / 40's music in Fallout 3 sets the mood as it's meant to be. It's definetly very good.
