So since i'm on a complete UMVC3 and BlazBlue binge lately (as in I get bored of UMVC3, immediately play BB then get bored of BB and immediately go back to UMVC3 and repeat forever.) I may as well make a topic or something :3

My favourite character in a fighting game at the moment would be Lambda-11 in BB:CS:EX and Phoenix in UMVC3. I can tell some people still hate all Phoenix players though. Her ridiculousness in Vanilla is still fresh in people's minds I guess. I don't even try to Dark Phoenix more than half the time because crazy comeback modes can be countered surprisingly easily and you look like a complete tit.

Lambda is a robot to start with so that's a plus, (everyone knows that robots r kewl.) She has this weird playstyle where she does best hovering around midscreen lobbing swords then can immediately punch the guy in the face when he gets closer.

Literally mid screen is her best place to be though which is weird. Other keepaway characters like to sit in a fortress on the other side of the screen lobbing shit at you all day. Too mainstream for Lambda though.

I have yet to win even one game with Lambda online though. One guy LET me win the second round then went back and instakilled me in round 3 and that's about it.

I can stand a chance with Noel because her rushdown is difficult to deal with in general and she has autocombos.

My entire online experience with BlazBlue could be summed up as:

WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!

Like Tager is pressing buttons and i'm dying horribly then Arakune did... THINGS and halved my health with this barrage of projectiles in the space of 2 seconds. Then a guy did a Lambda combo using nothing but blades and Lambda herself was chilling on the other side of the screen

I would get annoyed by my lack of wins but all this crazy shit combined with the art style, music and flashy effects makes it just awesome to watch. Even if I tend to get absolutely locked in the corner until I die half the time. I just don't care.

I think the fact that the game doesn't rub a loss in your face like Marvel does really helps. Literally this huge YOU FUCKING LOST is stuck on the screen in Marvel.

BB is just X character wins! *goes to stats screen*

Well in regards to Blazblue, one look at my avatar answers that question. Mained Hakumen since day one back in Calamity Trigger all the way up to now and going into Chrono Phantasma. His character design and awesome them song aside, I like his rather versatile and yet methodical play style.

At the right moments he can lay down scary pressure and completely destroy his opponents momentum with a well timed Zanshin. His combo-ability is somewhat free form when you first start using him, but when you know the optimal shit, some of them start to blur into each other. He is powerful and down right scary in the right hands, though the scrubby Hakus make the rest of us look bad sadly. I like his meter managment, and know how, when, and how much of his meter to use as any given time. Though not the hardest character in the roster to learn, using him PROPERLY makes him semi-difficult to learn.

Good tools, best defense in the game bar none, and grown ass man supers that will fuck your shit up if you aint careful. Seriously, Yukikaze (his super counter) may as well have "NOPE!!" flash on the screen when you land that shit. It is the great equalizer. Also fumajin'ing projectiles is great, I can sit in my angry dome and there is not much my opponent can do sometimes lol.

Lambda is my natural enemy dating all the way back when she was broken and called Nu. Even now, she's still a cheap character that is too safe for what she does. Her phantom blade dead zone is a joke, you gotta be kissing her pretty much no to get his with that shit. and her dash in specials have stupid properties on them that make her a chore to punish if you don't instant block. IB'ing should be an added bonus, NOT a damn requirment, especially when she can fucking jump cancel to negate the negative advantage *rage* And being able to do her D follow ups even on block, auto adjusting specials which go against restrictions placed on other characters all add up to cheapness. Not to mention every damn Lambda spams the annoyingly safe: air back dash > j2D`D. I could rant on and on about robo-*****, but I'll leave it at the simple stuff for now.

I also hate Noel...scrubby ass character is scrubby.

Chipp Zanuff from Guilty Gear is my main and fav character. Again, I'm more utilitarian of a player and don't care as much about swag and all that other superficial nonsense. I love Chipps speed, retarded mix up, combo potential, teleports, and crazy ass mind games. It's a damn shame 2 combos will just wreck him...being a former druggie definitely took a toll on his defense. Though without his shit defense, he'd being a pretty broken character in some regards. I love his mobility, being able to wall jump, having triple jumps, or double air dashes, and teleports to boot. He's like a less bouncy and annoying Taokaka and more in your face.

And for a third character, good old Golbez from Dissidia; you don't fuck with a good Golbez player, period. Best ground based combat in the game, amazing combo potential, scary EX mode pressure, a modest damage. He may not be the highest tier given his air options are kind mediocre, but near te ground and he will wreck you. A spacing character at its finest, with almost every attack guaranteed to land HP damage because fuck you I have cosmic ray!! Getting hit by his gravity force will make you cry, and getting hit by it two or even three times in a single combo will make you put down you PSP because there goes a massive chunk of your health. Golbez is manly, and he is not to be trifled with when on the war path.

Fiona from Arcana Heart stands pretty high, even if a lot of it is because Arcana Heart is my favorite fighting game series (even beating out Guilty Gear). She's the game's heavy, slow, methodical striker (compared to Kira being the slow grappler, and later Katherine being the in-between), and the combination of range, power, and a few sneaky super armor attacks make her wonderful for my playstyle. Combine that with an arcana emphasizing movement or trickiness (particularly Wind or Time), and I have everything I need.

Also, Hisui & Kohaku (one character), from Melty Blood. Particularly with Kohaku leading. You give up a few on-demand things from either maid's solo version (Kohaku's molotov cocktails and plants, Hisui's projectiles, picnic lunches, and THIS CHAIR), but gain an adaptable playstyle, safe mixups and tricks from the inactive sister, and an arc drive where the two just go to town beating the snot out of the opponent.

Also alo, Axl Low from Guilty Gear. Because I can kill you from across the screen. ...before Accent Core, at least. >_>

Also also also, Archer from Fate/Unlimited Codes.

Because so, as I pray, <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g36bLR62gnk>UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS.

Hmmm... Probably Peacock from Skullgirls:

I haven't really played that many fighting games, out of the ones I have played though, Peacock probably stands out the most to me. She's fun to play as since I can keep her opponents at bay with her various range attacks. Plus I LOVE her character. A bloodthirsty little girl who LOVES cartoons with a ridiculous arsenal of weapons at her disposal.

Also...

Out of all the girls I have played as, she seems to be the one who has the closest connection to the Marie. Seeing as how they were friends back when Peacock was a normal person. Of course, I've only played through Peacock, Filia, and Cerabella's stories, so I could be wrong.

Plus, she didn't even need the Skull Heart, something that could grant any wish so long as it was pure. (or something along those lines) She just blew it to pieces while proclaiming how powerful she was. BAD. FUCKING. ASS.

Now if only I could get better at Skullgirls so I could actually fight other people with her. X(

Cinder, Fulgore and Spinal are my 3 favourites from my favourite fighting game. Spinal was the only character I ever did one of the ultra combos with even though I don't know how I did it but it was so awesome haha Fulgore just looks awesome as well.

And scorpion just for his signature move "Get over here!".

God I wish Mortal Kombat 9 was released in Australia :/ I really hope this new R18 rating changes things like this.

God I miss Killer Instinct. I'll go with Fulgore. I always did like robots. And he's got like Predator claws, which just makes him even more awesome in my book.

Damn, I love fighting games. I love how deep the games are, but I have a deeper appreciation for the colourful casts of characters in fighting games.

I love the BlazBlue cast, especially since the BlazBlue games have a proper story mode to develop these characters. I'm having a character crisis with BBCSE because I enjoy these characters so much. I'll probably do best to stick with Noel, but I can't help but play Platinum or Jin.

In GG my favourite character is Sol Badguy, because he's too goddamn cool. ABA is probably my second favourite because of how expressive her animations are.

My favourite character in P4A is Labrys, mainly because of her story route. Her accent, giant axe, being a robot, and wearing a school uniform definitely gets points though. I just wish she wasn't so... not good in P4A. Having poor defensive options, relatively weak mixups, and poor damage without red axe is lame. D:

It's hard to pick a favourite in Melty Blood. The Melty cast seems plain if you haven't played Tsukihime or Kagetsu Tohya, (or watched Kara no Kyoukai) but once you do, they all become very interesting characters. Honestly, MB has my favourite fighting game cast. Design-wise, Ryougi is my favourite character. Gameplay-wise, my favourite character is C-S.Akiha.

As for Street Fighter, my favourite character is Guile. I like Street Fighter characters, but I can't really bring myself to care about them. Their personalities are never really explored.

For Tekken... it's a shame I'm awful at Tekken. I like Tekken characters. My two favourites are Lili and Kazuya.

My favourite KoF character is Iori Yagami, no doubt.

I need to stop listing games and characters, dammit.

But overall, I think my favourite character is:

Ryougi Shiki

Because KnK is godlike, and Ryougi's hella cool.

Hard fists and harder liquor!
Brad Wong is easily my favorite fighting game character.

Faust from Guilty Gear comes in at a distance second. Fear the power of the door!

I usually lean towards rushdown type characters like Ragna in BB, but in almost every other game, my main seems to be characters with relatively odd movesets that focus on movement options.
In Melty Blood it's Len followed by Kouma.
In Street Fighter I mostly use Vega.
For Persona 4 Arena, I got into character types I usually don't use with Shadow Labrys and Naoto.
Sadly I'm not really good enough to say I'm not a scrub yet.

Oh don't talk to me about scrubby characters unless you have played against the online nightmare that is Hulk + Sentinel in UMVC3. Basically, he presses H and wins the game. 3 hits of super armour, gives him a free combo, he can cancel it into an annoying amount of things and the arc of it sometimes barely crosses you up.

Then you have the Sentinel assist making all the unsafe crap he does completely risk free. I stand by my word that Hulk + Sentinel + unstable connection = Automatic win.

Aww I've gathered how people dislike Noel online (for some reason, can't think why) but Lambda too? Next you'll tell me how everybody despises Carl as well :(

I need to learn that dashing is actually a good thing in BB. Like backdashes are invincible right? You know what happens if you backdash in Marvel? YOU DIE. Also throws require you to be hugging your opponent to death to actually do one. At least throws are not random as hell in BB though. I have never once said "he's gonna try a throw" and not broken it in BB whereas the amount of times I have tried to throw someone on incoming in Marvel then somehow get thrown myself is far too high. Seriously, the input for throw break is the same as throw right? So we should be even and break? Fucking broken game.

I keep trying to X-Factor cancel everything in BlazBlue and trying to Burst in UMVC3. Well at least it's not as bad as when I facechecked a bush hiding 5 enemies in LoL and tried to X-Factor cancel to make myself safe. That went well.

I'll just go game by game.

Love her voice and personality.

I actually want to cosplay as him someday.

Just her NOT Sheik. Shes been my undisputed champion for 2 games now, hopefully that carries over to the Wii-U.

I love pissing people off with her unpredictability.

Hes been woefully missing from recent games.

Honorable mention goes to:
Nightmare - Soul Calibur
Lamda/V-13 - Blazblue
Sabrewulf - Killer Instict
Sheena the Leopard - Bloody Roar
Bayman - Dead or Alive

I think thats all the more popular fighting games I can think of. If you want I can get obscure with games like Flying Dragon.

Best UMvC3 team ever.

They all compliment each other really well.

I put X-23 on point, not many people use her, so they don't really know what to expect. Everyone expects a Wolverine dive kick, but hardly anyone expects an X-23 crossup with a Vergil/Ammy assist.

Vergil is on second, my main damage dealer. By the time he's on the field, I should have enough meter to really do some damage, and with the help of X-23 assist, I can extend his combos, while using Ammy's assist to confuse the enemy for crossups.

Ammy is my anchor, when everything else has gone to shit, Ammy is the character I know inside out. I may not be able to pull off her advanced combos, but I know exactly how she moves and what I need to do to open up an enemy.
