I searched and found a similar thread posted months ago, but thought I'd start another to get different responses.

Anyway...
I was looking through my old PS1/2 game collections and realised that a lot of my favourite games are actually games which are not so well known, perhaps underrated or just games which intrigued me but I never saw any reviews of and just bought out of curiosity.
On PS2 one of my favourite games was the fairly dark RPG 'Shadow Hearts'.
The Legacy of Kain series springs to my mind as well. Although it's fairly well known, it's never gained massive popularity, but I thoroughly enjoyed every game of the series.

Does anyone else have favourites which never really reached a well-known status?

Overlord.

I seriously think this game is probably the best most original idea of 2007

I really like Freedom Fighters; the progression style, the squad combat and the story itself all were top notch. I hardly find someone that knows about it though and that makes me a little sad.

The games in the Dragonball series were some of the most true to the story games I've ever seen.
That being said, I only buy mainstream or possibly if it has been recommended. (i.e. Psychonauts)

I just bought a copy of Freedom Fighters off ebay a month ago, and it is safe to say that I love the game just as much as I did back in '03. I've heard that a sequel is on IO Interactive's "to-do list", but it looks like it will be at keast another year befor they make any announcements.

Also:Not many people know about Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, even though it was a fantastic game. It's still my favorite RTS.

This. And the Ice Wind Dale series, the games that everyone forgets. Probably for a reason.

Wizardry 8. Best RPG ever made.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who ever talks of it.

I liked shadow hearts to but never got around to beating it... one day maybe.
Dragon Warrior/Dragon quest square enix tried wrangling in supporters for this little known franchise(little known in America at least) with a FF demo in the 8th installment but its definitely one of the best RPGs I've played. I became a fan when i played the 7th one on my PS1.

turnbased combat gives me wet dreams, but its not for everyone.

Condemned 1 and 2, though those are probably fairly well known now.

Intelligent Qube, back on PS1.

Wetrix on N64.

Codename: PANZERS for PC RTS.

TOCA Race Driver for racing games.

Disney's Math Quest with Aladdin :D

I also used to love Jurassic Park's "Trespasser". The one that to find out your health you would look down on your characters boob to find a tattoo of a heart. The more hurt you were, the tighter the barabed wire was around it. True story.

Star wars Battle Front 1 was good, i had a good time with it. Although the second one wasn't as good.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Sly Cooper series. Best platformers of last generation.

I do believe I have two games for this category:

Arx Fatalis and Overlord.

Bother wonderful games which I think nobody ever really payed as much attention to as those hyped up pieces of garbage like GTA 4 and Halo 3.
