Douglas Adams was a comic genius, lets leave it at that.

"THE CAKE IS A LIE"

"Ma'am, I may be drunk, but you are very ugly, and in the morning, I will be sober"
-can't fucking remember his name

Dat's some good Winston churchill.

And another from him:"I'm prepared to meet my maker, the question is whether or not he's ready for the ideal of meeting me."
And more: "I like pigs. Cats look down on us, dogs look up to us, but pigs look to us as equals."

And also from Fallout 3:

"War.
War never changes."
Please odn't tell me you think that originates from FO3. That line is a trademark of the entire Fallout collection. All 4 titles 1, 2, 3 and Tactics opening sequences begin with that magnificant line ^^

"Live with a man for forty years.
Eat from the same pot, sleep in the same bed.
Never let a thought go unsaid between the two of you.
Then, one day, tie him up and hang him over the edge of a volcano.
And on that day, you will finally know the man."

I'm tied between two.
Not inspirational or anything.
Just great quotes.

'That is really amazing. That really is truly amazing. That is so amazingly amazing I think I'd like to steal it.'
~Zaphod Beeblebrox, (need I say it?) Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Also:

'White picket fences: "Look! we're painted nice and friendly but we have pointy things on top, so stay the HELL out." Ah, capitalism....'
~My teacher. Yes, I'm serious.
That teacher is amazing...

I remeber that, and for those of you who don't know (shame on you) the guy was cross-eyed. the discussion about their names was even funnier.

less of a quote and more of a speech but still great nonetheless.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known. - Carl Sagan

I don't know about ever but my favourite quotes at the moment are "They just float out there sending Raver Reading Parties..." (a quote from Alan Tudyk in the blooper reel of Serenity), almost anything said in Full Metal Jacket and quite possibly this:
There's car insurance, home insurance, energy suppliers... so if you are unlucky enough to crash your car, get burgled AND leave your TV on all night, you're pretty much sorted...
