I'm split between Stargate and The X-Files. Both 90s series which were cancelled. I really liked the main cast of both. They had relatively intelligent, well thought-out plots and sci-fi concepts, and interesting lead characters. Though if I could bring back one, it would be the X-Files, it was peerless in exploring conspiracies in high places and modern day mysteries.

Farscape is something I'd like to try, as is Terminator: SCC.

I'm pretty sure Quantum Leap would qualify, but in case it doesn't, I'd say my backup of Sliders. Just so people are clear, not that it matters:

1) Quantum Leap
2) Sliders
3) Eureka

The first two seasons of the 2004 Battlestar Galactica were amazing. The third was still pretty good but the fourth was so so bad. Still the best one overal though

I think it was pretty good, but I didn't really watch it enough to understand the plot, only snippets - so these 40,000 colonists are looking for Earth which they somehow lost. Commander Adama was one of the best characters IMO.

At the moment, I've got my eye on Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, though. Looks interesting.

Babylon 5, no contest. It had a proper overarching story going throughout the series without descending into nonsense like Battlestar Galactica did and without being weighed down by the utopia stuff that Star Trek had, it only just edges out Firefly which loses because it was so short.

Pretty much this, right down to the season breakdown. I thought S3 and S4 had some MOMENTS, but they were saddled with pseudo-mystical garbage and bizarre character re-writes, and the less said about the finale the better.

The first two seasons were phenomenal stuff. Up there with some of the very best shows on television.

I'm a big sci-fi fan in general, but I find that a lot of the sci-fi tv series just don't grab me. Could never get into Stargate or Star Trek for example.

However the mighty Battlesar Galactica reigns supreme over most tv for me. And Firefly of course.

Firefly is up there if you roll in Serenity. Otherwise it was a one season show that showed a little potential but never really went anywhere.

Same issue holding Deadwood back, really. Show doesn't actually "end". It just dribbles out and gets cancelled.

If 'Heroes' doesn't count as sci-fi, as I suspect, then 'Firefly' is the only sci-fi show I've ever watched for more than one episode. It was very good, and factoring in the film gives it a full plot as a series.
