I have played many MMOs in my past, (such as Runescape, Flyff, Perfect World, Shadowbane, Guild Wars, MapleStory, and a couple others,). But I'll never forget my first MMO, Kingdom of Drakkar. I started playing this when i was 10, and later at 13. the game was quite primitive in many ways, espesually the graphics. the game was practically 2d, (it apparently at one time use to be a text-based MMO,)

I can't help but look back at this game with nostalgia, and all the fun I had in that world.

So, what MMOs have you played? What was the first MMO you ever played?

World Of Warcraft.

I really enjoyed it at first, but then it descended into grind and boredom and I didn't feel like playing it anymore.

Still, it's a pretty damn good game.

I think adventurequest. although you can't play that with more people.
So maybe runescape.
The guild wars.
Just recently I tried Wow for cataclysm.

They all kinda suck. Actually no, guild wars was alright.

My first was Ultima Online. I quit because I waited not weeks, but months for them to clear space so that I could build a house. They were going to create a non-playerkill world in addition to the one PK world. After months of waiting and no announcement as to a timeline, I took a weekend off from playing, having played almost every day for over a year. Two days gone, and when I got back they had set up the new world and all the space was gone. The final straw was when they changed poison rules to make it almost an insta-kill. Since they decided to give casual players the middle finger, I decided it was time to stop sending them my money.

that is what I eventually realized, and why i don't play MMO's anymore. almost all of them are grindbased, leaving you at the end feeling like 'wow, why did i spend all these hours doing this?'

I guess it would be Well of Souls. It was fairly entertaining, and free.

A game called "The World". It actually had less graphics than OP's first mmo and the server could only support like a maximum of 20-30 people. After that one I started playing Flyff. I had a great time in both.

runescape, then maple story, then wow. from there, i would flirt back and forth between WoW and other MMO's, including Guild Wars, Champions Online, Lord of the Rings online, Flyff, Silk Road, and Maple Story some more. Pretty much whatever me and my friends felt like playing at the time, although i kind of stopped playing them for the past year. i picked up cataclysm, liking the new challenge of it, but it's starting to settle into the same old grind, so i'll probably drop it again soon. significantly less excited for the old republic as time has gone on, it just seems to keep getting worse and worse to me. Although i am fairly excited for guild wars 2, really wish they would give at least some projection to a release date for it, although it probably won't be till sometime in 2012

I played Anarchy Online, which was my first game that meets the modern definition of the MMO. I also played Arctic, a MUD set in the Dragonlance world that could host several hundred concurrent players years before that.

If Guild Wars counts, then that.

If not, City of Heroes. I just got back to it recently, in fact. It's one of the two I play routinely.

My first MMO was World of Warcraft. I played it for almost 3 years, and near the end I just got bored of it and decided it was time to quit. I will admit that when I was playing it, I had a lot of fun, especially when you play it with people you know outside of WOW. The best times I had were questing or doing dungeons with my neighbor, once he stopped playing, I slowly started to stop playing as well. If you don't have friends to play it with, the game can get boring fast.

I started with Everquest about ten years ago. Not really..meant for a ten year old, needless to say I was quite awful at it. I loved it none the less. The game certainly showed me the fun of exploring such a massive world.
I've been quite into the MMORPG genre ever since.

lets see, i played runescape back when it only had 3 servers.

priston tale, ragnarok online, wow, everquest, guildwars, and a few others that were fairly too much space too little to do.

i'm a quester. i like to complete quests, missions and so forth. kinda like beating a game 100%, even in single player games if they have you the option to do the side quests, i'm up for it. in wow. i didn't care if it was for 1s or less.
