Ok, so this was planted in my head with many drunked conversations with geeky friends alike, as I'm sure we've all been there.

What is the first Establishment will you Raid/Scavenge in the event of the Zombie-Apocalypse? And How Long will you leave until you do so (from when the plaue hits)??

Now before you answer this, remember this: After the plague hits, Humans are more terrifying than any shuffling-creature, and also remember that if your idea is popular, then everyone will be trying the same place at probably the same time; Chaos will ensure.

My first port-of-call is a Library (preferrably a University, but will have to fight through some 7000 students: Living, dead...or incredibly Hungover). Anyway, Libraries are relatively undesirable, has infinite suvival and self-sustainability knowledge, (if it's a Uni one) will most likely have a refreshments area, and most of the lower areas (usually where they keep the journals and important stuff) are very defensive.

Enjoy.

A guy I know's house.

His father owns and online gun store, so he basically has 700 guns (Pistols to assault rifles to sniper rifles to light machine guns) in his basement.

:D

Raiding my friends house for weapons, (He has too many guns really.) Then heading to Citidal Hill in Halifax. a 18th century fort in the middle of the City. Perfectly defendable, and have the outlying city to raid for supplies. Perrrrrfect.

Or McNabbs island which is out in the middle of the harbor of Halifax. Which, also has a fort on it. heh. I'm sure we could get those cannons working.....

Since my real-life survival skills are practically non-existent, and knowing full well I'll be dead and one of those zombies attacking one of you, I'd like to think if I had a chance I could re-enact Shaun of the Dead and simply go to the pub before living the rest of my undead life munching on brains

If I had a chance... I'd probably say near the Army facility near where I live. Tank win.

I've got more food than you can shake a fist at.

For the other stuff, I know a guy, he's paranoid, yet he trusts me to a fault, I'll drive on over to his place first.

After that, I take him to my place, with the solar generators, and with a little fixing up and that place is a fortress.

wow, when it comes to that apocolypse scenario I got the jackpot.

Weapon shop (not sure if there are any anymore), after that quick stop at pharmacy for essential medicine, and then getting some food. Then i can hole up at my house for a while.

Tho, if there are too many crazy persons, i'll just go raid some small kiosk at middle of nowhere.

The oldest building in my old high school. It's got a cool lower level where food is stored to be chilled and the canteen is in the middle on the first floor and is very defensible. The top floor is a massive ?U? shaped zone that branches off into bathrooms, toilets and a study with a minor library. There are two ways up, stairs to the North East and then another set to the South West; but the doors leading into the stairwell on both the top and bottom floors are old heavy wooden ones and can be bolted.

Last ditch there's a fire escape to the roof; from which you can easil climb to the next building over. Only catch is that the entire schoon ground is fenced off and locked at night, so getting in would mean us either creating an entrance or climbing over the spiky gates or fences... oh and the PE building is nearby, so free melee weapons for all!

The house of a friend just a very short walk out of the small town I am in. Main reason for going there is he has tons of guns where as I only have one handgun in questionable condition. After that I am not sure, possibly the post office located in town. Mid sized solid stone building with a metal shutter over its door. If that fails I can fall back into the actual mail room and close the big metal door there. The building next to the post office is a Mexican restaurant, and the next one is a corner store type thing. So that would cover me on food for awhile. I would make further plans from there using any information I could gather from radio and news and internet until those all go down.

At first I really wanted to say a mall, but after thinking about what you said about other "non-zombies" running around as well, I think the first place I'd go to would be where I work. It's an emergency-dispatch and answering service, so the building itself is extremely secure as there are heavy metal doors that require a special fob to get into, security cameras all around the building so you can see who/what is outside and prepare for it, a backup power generator with enough power that can last for up to two weeks and be refueled, a stocked kitchen and restroom plus there's a GUN STORE A FLOOR BELOW US IN THE SAME BUILDING! Usually work is the last place I want to be but in the event of zombies, I'd change my mind.

My local Police Station.
They have a huge armoury, medical supplies, various communication tools, and a evidence locker full of guns, knives, (and last time I was there) a crossbow.

Well, seeing as I live in a port/coastal town that occasionally docks the odd RN Frigate I'd go to the harbour, if there wasn't one docked at the time I'd probably jump onto any other large boat and attempt to leg it...actually, no, thinking about it I had better raid all the chemists first.
There is also a gunsmiths that also sells old tanks and armoured cars about 15 miles from me, but it's a long trek without a car, and even with one there's all sorts of problems that could arise.

Across town there's a small little known gunstore (I live in the UK) the guy stocks various rifles and shotguns as well as ammo crssbows, bows and survival gear. It has a double door entrance with electronic locks and thick concrete walls, so its pretty well fortified. Just around the corner is a supermarket, that'll be my next stop.

Jump in the car and drive two minutes down the road to a small supermarket. The front is mostly glass so I could just smash it in with the car, load up and be back at the house within the hour.

If things got really ugly and we had to abandon the house we could always jump in the rowing boat and head down river until we found a bigger one to nick. From there our best bet would probably be to either wait until the river took us to the sea or set up in the abandoned asylum that's hidden in the woods near my first home.

I love out towards farming country, open land and smaller populations. A walmart or two nearby gives me plenty of raiding possibilities and then I can hold up someplace with sparse people. Until I can make a defensive mobile unit to transport myself and w/e friends and supplies I have to an even more remote area.

Anyone saying they'll be fine near a city is already dead.

Actually made a generaly SHTF plan the other day, and I can have a survival kit prepped within a few minutes, so hopefully I'll survive long enough so the zombies don't find the house.

After that, I run down to the local for a quick pint, then go very carefully along public footpaths for a few miles until we get to this hippy house. They live off the land there and have water, farms, etc. Force entry to that and kill/befriend the occupants, then remain there for a couple of days whilst scouting parties of my friends gather supplies & resources.

We then make our way to the castle (yes, a full-on castle) half a mile down the road, and fortify the keep etc. Entirely remove all trees for 1km so there's a clear line of sight, and get some fires going at night, along with some dirt trenches with some JCB. Then it's just a matter of creating shanty huts away from the castle and living in a adhocratic society for the rest of our lives.

A library would be really cool though. I guess there'd be a lot of zombies round a uni though.

My Uni has a full-on HvZ team, complete with some of the biggest motherfucking badasses I've ever seen. So....I'm sticking with them however I can. I would NEVER survive on my own.

Stay in my apartment with my family. We live on the 19th floor, we have a metal gate, we have a week's worth of food and my mom grows food in our balcony. Our apartment's on a hill next to downtown Hong Kong, but assuming that the Chinese army's sane and sensible enough to not nuke us and instead use their communist military might to get rid of the horde properly, I think we'll do okay.

(Then again, they did nuke us in Dawn of the Dead, and a zombie apocalypse might stop any power from coming into the apartment.)

My secondary plan is to stay at my school. There's a supermarket nearby, the school's on a hillside surrounded by mountains, forest and a nearby bay, and other than some nearby luxury apartments it's pretty far from most population centers. Plus, I always found it easy to convert my school into a fortress.
