Escapists, what's your invention? What essential device have you conceived which has not yet been built?

I have finally figured out how I will finance my retirement in the Bahamas. Hearing aids are old news, but no one has invented speaking aids. If I had a nickel for every time someone said to me, [small]"Hi, I'd whisper whisper like to whisper mumble mumb..."[/small] Now maybe I can!

I propose to help the unfortunate people who were born without the ability to speak at normal human volume. It will also help the rest of us, who currently must employ rifle mikes and interpreters to make sense of it.

The device will take the form of a small clip-on, rather like a Bluetooth ear buddy. Mumblers who wear them will listen, awestruck, as their pathetic mewling murmurs are amplified into speech a human can hear and understand.

Yes, I know megaphones have already been invented. They are bulky and suffer from low sound quality. This is a convenient, trendy alternative, with an emphasis on audio fidelity and ease of wear.

What do you think?

I want to create a self-cooling pillow because I hate having a warm pillow when I go to sleep and I also hate having to turn it over all the time to keep it cold.

A pocket sized battery powered personal cooling device, hooked to coolant filled plastic tubes with velcro to fit comfortingly inside your shirts trim, frequently being cooled and circulated.

Temperature comfort anywhere anytime.

I will create artificial life. Then not tell anyone about it.

Once I die, my creations can reveal the solutions to the world.

Vibrating mouth guards (hang on...). The texture inside the guards would have small follicles that would act as the brush, and once you apply a small amount of toothpaste it would essentially clean your teeth without any effort on your part.

I'd buy that, if it was practical and comfortable.

Glorious invention good Sir!

A type of 2x4 that reforms itself when broken like the T-1000 so that I always have something to destroy when I rage.

A machine that steams your dollar. Constantly being rejected by the snack machine is now a thing of the past. Thing is, it costs 75 cents, so you only get a quarter back anyway.

This isn't mine but I like to share patent with the guy who first thought of it.

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, the Small Item Teleporter!

Ever been chatting with your friends online, when one of them suddenly sighs and says "Man, I wish I had a cookie." Lo' and behold, to your left is a large plate of delicious cookies! If only you could share them with your beloved friend.

Well now you can! Just pop the cookie onto the Small Item Teleporter, input the unique serial code of your friends Small Item Teleporter, and bang! Instant friendship and cookies for everyone!

Seriously though.... I reckon it'd be really helpful at some point. xD

I've created a word. Tragilarious. Something that's both tragic and hilarious. Like the person in a restaurant choking is the only one who knows the Heimlick Maneuver. Feel free to use it Escapists.

Crystal Hero-caine. It's an amalgamation of drugs.

But seriously, perhaps a self-heating container. Just grab some left-overs from the fridge, put it in the bowl or whatever, put a lid on it, let it heat for 5 minutes, take the lid off, eat.

World Peace! Bam!

But in all seriousness, I thought of trying to make a information network for US interstate transportation. The idea was cars would have like a built in monitor displaying speed limits, upcoming exits, special conditions, etc. Basically like a GPS, all connected to this network. Stations responsible for over-seeing traffic conditions on certain segments of the interstate could update information for their segments when circumstances occur, allowing for quick up-to-date information. For example, heavy rainstorms on I-XY has caused a traffic jam between miles QWER and miles ASDF; estimated delay 30 minutes.

An oven-y thing that knows exactly how long to cook anything for, be it rice, lobsters, a whole cow... I'm not a bad cook, I just hate having to keep looking after everything it while it cooks.

AAAARRRRRRGHHHHHHH I THOUGHT OF THAT YEARS AGO!

OT:A rectagular cube thingy to replace discs. Four sides of information, fits inside the device with four lasers, eliminating noisy disc gears and prevention of wearing of mechanical parts.

EDIT: I've also thought of a way to combine the Tzcimzi Blood strike technique with modern armaments. With IV's stuck into the wrists feeding directly into the chamber;/clip the blood strike could become a good bit more powerful.
