So, every now and again I like to get a little tipsy. And the next day, this happens-

My usual cure for this is to immediately down whole fat milk from the carton until it stops. Two pints normally works. My friends swear by berocca, nandos or an all you can eat buffet.

so, simple question, what's your personal hangover cure?

Inb4 snarky "I don't get drunk because it's bad for you and you deserve to feel bad" comments.

I don't tend to be able to cure a hangover once it's there, though I rarely get them as long as I drink plenty of non-alcoholic stuff during the session.

Before going to sleep I usually down several litres of water and add some electrolytes.
Never had a hangover using this method...

Similar to your answer but better.

When I'm hungover, I either want a lot of fruit and water or a bucket of greasy food and fizzy drinks. Never at the same time.

Depends on the hangover... lots of fruit and a half pint of cranberry juice and a half pint of pure orange mixed.
Or
a double cheese burger from mcdonalds and a xl coke work other times.
I can't do fry-ups in the morning.

And there was me thinking the Irish cure for a hangover was to stay pissed :p

Oh yeah, we call that "the cure", works every time. Still, we have to sober up every now and again for special occasions like mass and GAA matches. That's where the nutritious food comes in.

Then it's straight back to the pub.

It's a beautiful culture.

Full Scottish Breakfast and an Irn Bru, thank you very much. With square sausage, mind, none of that link crap. The purpose of the Irn Bru is to take your mind off the taste of dried vomit in your mouth by replacing it with something different but equally vile - at least, this is my understanding. I have heard tales of those who drink Irn Bru for pleasure, but I hope never to meet such a person in my days.

I stay horizontal until I am sure I wont throw up.
I here vitamins and water is the most effective.
I agree to bacon and tea. I am sure the salt in the bacon helps keep the fluid in and help faster recovery

First on the list is as much water as I can bear, to re-hydrate.
Then once I feel like I can actually cope with solids, a nice greasy full English with a cup of tea containing about 4 sugars, or failing that fish n chips. The more grease the better :D

The easiest way to not get a hangover is not to drink... for most people, feeling sluggish to downright like hell the next day is inevitable.

Having said that, alcohol is fun. I drink alcohol. I find waking up early (booze does this part for me) and drinking large quantities of fruit juice helps. Later on I eat something fatty/carby, and BAM, hangover cured.

Avoiding cheap alcohol, and copious mixing of drinks, also helps.

I know a preventive measure that works fairly well under the right conditions. Basically, after a night of drinking, before you go to bed drink as much water as you can possibly stand to drink (the difficulty of this can vary greatly depending on your drunkeness). Alternatively, you can keep water with you throughout your drinking session. You will need to drink over twice the amount of water compared to the amount of alcoholic beverage injested. Ultimately, if your water intake to pissing ratio is fairly even (again the alcohol will cause you to piss well over twice the amount of water), you can actually escape a hangover entirely.

If you or a roomate have a medical background you could even consider setting up an IV saline drip overnight (obviously, someone sober would have to put the IV in..). Just don't set the drip rate too high, as you will definitely end up pissing in your bed otherwise.

That Taio Cruz song always gets me the wrong way.

You got a hangover did you pretty boy? What the fuck are you, 12? Get the fuck over it, and shut up. It's pathetic to brag about hangovers, doubly when you're supposed to be some sort of partier.

But I digress.

Drink a shitload of water before sleep: No hangover. Hangovers are largely a result of extreme dehydration. The digestion of alcohol uses a lot of water, and increases the rate at which the body loses fluids. If you have like 500 mL before you sleep, you'll be much better off.

Alternatively: Just keep drinking.

Before going to bed. Drink a bit of water, proportional to how much you drank.

It won't help the upset stomach the next day which is the part that has made me stop drinking. Seriously, feeling like you're going to throw up the whole day, but never actually having to was much worse than any of the hangovers I have had. And strangely enough food helps that upset stomach, even though you won't feel like eating.
