Everyone has a dream or goal they want to fulfill in life, some are to discover breakthroughs in science, others to become a world class famous athlete, hell maybe even holding a hot dog eating record, but something or someone had to inspire us to reach our goals or dreams in life.

So my question to you great people of The Escapist, who or what is your inspiration?

My goal in life is to win an Oscar for best director. I've been wanting to make films for as long as I can remember and have made quite a few now. The one director who really got me inspired to pursue this goal is David Fincher. Without a doubt one of the best directors in Hollywood today and ever in cinema history. His style of film making is beautiful and original. Very inspiring person to me.

My goal in life is to write, sing and play an instrument for a band.
At the moment i play and instrument and write music.
now all i need is the rest of the band.
as for inspiration, I look at the musical styling of bands like Tool and the vocal styling of Snot, With some Nirvana/Pixies and Pink Floyd thrown in.\

David Fincher seems to be using his style, for the sake of using his style in his later movies.
although i haven't seen Girl with the dragon tattoo so he may have changed it up. Granted its no-where near as bad as Tim Burton.

My life is art centered, it always has been and always will be, I'll draw till my hands fall off. My goal right now is to start a web-comic, which I'm making concept art for.

My family are the ones who inspire me to draw, ever since I was little, but for the things that I draw, it would probably be Fantasy themed stuff mostly and um... dragons, lots of dragons. I don't mean things that are just Tolkien based, I like anything that's whimsical, I love Studio Ghibli.

My career goal: To be able to write/draw my comic book series without needing the financial assistance of a second job as I do now. To be able to be stable enough that I can focus completely on art work rather then the disgusting customer service jobs that I've been forced into thanks to the small town I work in.

Inspiration for that: I really don't think I have true inspiration for that goal. I have friends and family, but I don't really look to them for inspiration, merely as Guinea pigs to view the horrors of which I have created.

I am my own inspiration, or at least the future me I see in my mind who frequently speaks to me with a better vocabulary and British accent.

Have you considered a web comic? You wont make any money on it, unless it gets popular enough to sell, and then I doubt it would be enough to support yourself completely, but at least it's a way to get your stuff out there, and there are websites that will host your comic for free. So you don't need to go through the trouble of making a website.

Also do you have a DA page?
Cause I like stalking viewing the work other drawing enthusiast make.

To be the first person to be at the head of an army as I charge full force into the palace of westminster and bring down the government.

Failing that there is another goal for me. To get off this rock and move abroad somewhere for the rest of my life. Preferably a place with actual culture and good food.

Ever since I read "To Kill a Mockingbird" I've wanted to be a lawyer, but I also had a dream of being president. Imagine how happy I was when I found out that a majority of US presidents were lawyers before they got involved in politics!

Atticus Finch is such a great guy.

I actually did have a webcomic. There was a problem in which I had a warning up on the site preventing those 18 or younger to enter (Dark content in the comic, I think it would have been okay for those a little younger than 18, but I wasn't going to take a chance). Well, of course some woman let her 11 year old son on and I ended up in a legal dispute. Although I won it, my site was removed for 90 days and I've had so much back work that I haven't had time or money to bring it back up.

The DA I use for others is here: http://saetonchapelle.deviantart.com/ Although I haven't updated it in a while please come by! I'd love to see yours as well. ;3

I'm sorry that happened to you, especially since you DID have a warning, it reminds me of the kids tricking their parents into buying them Call of Duty, Halo, The Witcher 2, then complaining to the store the game is violent, even though it's pretty much spelled out on the back cover.

Your work is nice by the way, I like the one you called "Young Father" especially the hair
*best artsy voice* nice line art and a smooth gradient from the light blue to the deep blue.

My DA is here:

But I need to do some house cleaning.

My inspiration jumps around a group of people. Personally I've wanted to help society as a whole than anything else and my careers and academic choices so far mean that I'm probably going to have to go towards becoming an MP.

I've got to say though, my inspirations for this are a little bit.. interesting shall we say, I am a socialist and I found myself inspired when I was younger by Guevara and stand by the point that sometimes revolution is needed (only ever as a last resort when the state prevents any method of legal protest) but I've also been inspired by Gandhi that peaceful protest can bring down even the biggest of institutions as well as Mandela.
I am also inspired by the early trade union movements especially in my local area, and believe that even now with social mobility at its best (arguable I know) that we need more high profile politicians (for all parties) to come from a more varied backgrounds.

Aww, yours is so beautiful. Your dragons are gorgeous! I love it all <3

People are ridiculous. It was a small issue that just seemed to escalate. I hate how people seem to try to find any reason to attack/sue another individual for the smallest of things. Only good thing is I got back at her for damages. xD

I want to write music and songs but I haven't bothered to get off my arse and learn to play guitar, partly because I don't want to be a failed musician so I'm settling for failure before I start. As for inspirational people Grant Nicholas of Feeder, Bob Marley, John Squire of the Stone Roses, Frank Black & Joey Santiago from the Pixies, Pete Townshend from The Who. I'm not short of inspirational people just confidence.

Well, my personal aim is to become a philosopher-

My mentor (my major living inspiration) always says that it's a philosopher's job to save the world...

So in that vein, I guess you could say my earliest inspirations were the video games that involved that kind of heroism when I was younger - FF6 and Chrono Trigger for starters, and before them, the Sonic the Hedgehog games (the little guy's adventures have much deeper symbolic philosophical undertones that one might realize - especially all the games up to and including Sonic Adventure haha).

I want to make something that blows peoples minds in the ways things like the novel Ender's Game or Pink Floyd's The Wall have blown mine. Preferably a game, but I wouldn't mind writing for a novel or a TV show.
