What female character cliche bothers you the most? I'm getting real sick of the "badass action chick" cliche. I understand that badassery isn't male exclusive, but every single damn action movies these days feels the need to throw in one eye candy female gunslinger for absolutely no reason. As an added bonus, they often have no personality to speak of or a hack "traumatized childhood" background. Colombiana is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

The quiet childhood friend who has a not-so-secret crush on the main character. Makes me feel like murder.

I have absolutely no problem with female ass-kickers, but let's make them a bit more plausible, eh? Give me more Sarah Connors and Ellen Riepleys, and less 90-pound stick figures wearing combat vests, body armor and ammo that weighs more than they do.

The useless Damsel in distress.
You know the one which gets kidnapped and then waits for the hero to rescue them rather than even attempt to escape.

I hate it when all of the male characters have practical armor, but the female characters are subjected to wear chain-mail bikinis. *cue up that one college humor video*

The "cooky spice" Final Fantasy type. There is no middle finger big enough.

Also, they are always, ALWAYS useless party members. I also hate love interests. Maybe I just want to get on with the sausage fest, ever think about that?

A female character in an otherwise male dominated piece of fiction that serves no purpose other than to be the stereotypical love interest.
It's not bad if the romantic relationship actually adds something to the overall story or if the female is an engaging character in her own right, but if she's just there to mack on the hero, seems pointless to me.
Might as well not have her in at all if her only purpose is to tell the shippers that the hero's one true love isn't his sidekick. (Something most of them will likely ignore anyway.)

If she's useless, whiney, or, God help me, a damned Mary Sue (looking at YOU, Micaiah =_=) then she does not appeal to me. Honestly, gaming really needs more Tough but thoughtful chicks like Lyn from Fire Emblem, or Alyx Vance.

Let us not forget Pvt. Vasquez or pretty much any of Michelle Yeoh's character.

I never disliked Micaiah before, but now that you mention it, she does seem quite a bit . . . well, absolutely perfect, which usually constitutes a Mary Sue. (Still a bit conflicted because I did like her.)

Yes. If a girl in a game is tough and stuff, give her a brain instead of an extra ten pounds in her tits. Lara Croft: sucks. Lyn: good. Lyn had a personality that any normal person would like and be attracted to.

"Badass action chick." I hate. I actually enjoyed watching Lara's death scenes, and no, I'm not a gurofag (do yourself a favor and DO NOT look that up if you don't already know what it means). Maybe I'm an anti-feminist or something, but I just can't empathize with Lara's type. Then again, I can't bring myself to like that type of guy character either. I just NOTICE the girls a lot more.

The 'kooky' females that Final Fantasy seems overly fond of really annoy me, and can only imagine the world being improved by the removal of each and every single one of them.

Edit cuz Im tired and totally misunderstood something.

The typical military chick that looks absolutely amazing, but is actually the very best intelligence officer the military has to offer. She knows everything, can do everything and does she look pretty.

But she has no time for frivolous things. She is 100% loyal to the military. Duty before friends, love and what not. And she'll kick you in the face or stomach if you so much say anything bad.

Probably had a bad childhood and was picked up by some guy who gave her a new life by raising her as the toughest daughter-of-a-***** (does that work?) out there.

.. Edit: After reading the OP after I posted (whoops)

I can say I agree with that.

The strong woman who is only strong until a man shows up, then devolves into some inept damsel in distress. "Oh yes Ishuzumizo-san-chigo-sagenofu, help me!"

Yes. Even though I'm a guy, this shit pisses me off. I mean honestly? Do you have to make every female dumb as a pile of rocks?

Seriously. We all know that since she's a super hot chick she can get any guy she wants.

I haven't seen the movie (Columbiana), but isn't it hard for the title character to be thrown in for no reason?

My most hated one is the one that everyone in the story just 'likes' for no exact reason whatsoever. Olivia, Odile, and Coyori from Battle Fantasia don't count for this, because they actually have reason.

It's too hard to decide, every time I think of one, another one occurs to me that I hate even more. :C
