So I just spent 6 hours fighting Luci in Dante's Inferno. It fried my brain to the point the fight is ingrained into my head; I'm having like miniature Nam flashbacks XD
So Now, I'm curious, what's the longest you've spent throwing yourself against a brick wall of a boss?

Not me, and not a video game, but a friend of mine used to play 2nd edition D&D and at one point they spent something like 5 hours trying to kill a monster, only to finally realize that the "monster" was actually an illusion that went away the moment they disbelieved it. This is a lot easier to understand when you realize that in 2nd edition, illusions were a LOT harder to detect than in 3rd edition.

Most boss fights are over pretty fast. But the last one in the two thrones was annoying.

Star ocean 4's second and final boss. It didn't help that I hated that game. It took like 3-4 hours and the final boss didn't have a save before him so if I died I would have to spend another 2 hours on the second boss again.

The first boss from Metal Gear Solid, I just couldn't hit him for some reason the first time around...

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
The Shadow Queen kicked my ass sideways, multiple times. I finally beat her, but it took about an hour and a half to do.

Halo 2.

Tartarus on Legendary. Jesus. Fucking. God. I emptied, and I mean emptied, dual Brute Plasma Rifles into his head (Be aware that this can only be done every five minutes or so because of his shield) as well as multiple Carbines. The only way that I beat him was by finding a place out of his reach and shooting him in the face for about an hour.

The game is a little obscure, but the Holoholo Bird in Baten Kaitos: Origins. Good fucking lord. I was stuck on it for the longest time and the attempt where I finally beat it took 3-4 hours at least.

The Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. Terrible game, but that boss fight was just so goddamn obnoxious. Maybe I was doing something wrong but it was several hours of repetitive boring turn taking. No wait, that was the whole game. That boss fight just extended the game by a few hours.

Other than that? Any boss from God of War II on Titan difficulty. The fights by themselves weren't more than 10 or 15 minutes but each one took several days and many many tries to beat.

Man I loved that game. Though I never got that far. Need to get a gamecube again someday.

Any number of Final Fantasy XI bosses. That shit was so ridiculous.
One of my favorites in 11 was Fenrir, as my lvl 70 whitemage, took me 3 hours to beat him because I was the second highest lvl in the party of 5, highest was a 75 paladin, with some higher 60s.

But my longest fight was the last hunt in FF12, took me 3+ hours with lvl 90 characters. That's without a game over. The guy has 50 MILLION hp while hitting him for 1000-6000 dmg a hit (combo weapons) alot of time spent on reviving guys and rebuffing them.

Dante versus Virgil Devil may Cry 3.

Took a very long time to kill him. Quick for me to die though when I did. Damn he was badass.

And then I got conrol of him and... Garbage.

Final Fantasy XII's Yiazmat.
Hours of work, a bugger to kill - but at least you could run off, save and heal then come back without it healing itself.

Marquis Elmdore in the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

Why? It took [i/]hours[/i] to steal all his bad-ace equipment.

Ansem in the original KH.
I had just a sliver of hp left, and 30 minutes can seem like hours considering that there's no save before the battle.

Sir Henry ************ on Bitter in "No More Heroes": It's a whole fight of dodging and plaving a random hit every five minutes, not a HARD fight, once you've memorized his attacks, but time-consuming as fuck.
Culex in "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars": Flattened my whole team except Bowser, who would only take 1 damage from any and all of Culex and his crystals' attacks, running out of Flower Power like, five minutes in left me using nothing but melees the whole fight.
Oh. My. Fucking. God. 14 hours later and I was down to just t he ice crystal. FUUUUUCK.
