The teacher came in 35 mins late.

That was my most recent lucky moment.

I flipped a car with a sunroof and slid about a hundred feet down the road with full head on asphalt contact with nothing but some minor scarring and a 1 inch bald spot to show for it. Also, I got stabbed in the eye once and was lucky that I didn't lose the eye, my sight or get a brain infection.

I was born 2 months premature with horrendously under-developed lungs. Nowadays, I can breathe! I reckon that's pretty lucky.

Also, I fell off a cliff in a skiing accident and missed smashing myself on a rock by about 2 feet, instead landing in soft, cushioning snow.

There're a couple of other, less interesting ways in which I should have died but haven't, too. Sadly, none of them have given me super powers yet

I almost got run over by a train once as i was crossing the tracks (don't cross the tracks, kids...). I was just simply not paying attention and it was am old section of track running near a busy road so i didn't hear it. Ran by just as i stepped off the other side.

Most recently, I found a £5 note while emptying a bin at work. Use it to play the Euromillions, sadly by then by luck had already run out :(

I got dumped by my first girlfriend, so I went to one of my friends and cried. Said friend is now my girlfriend of half a year. :D

Or, if you want something a little bit less romantic, there was a time when I was young and almost rode into some glass. See, my house was built with the entrance facing a rather steep slope - the kind that not even Lance Armstrong could ride up if he had rocket boosters attached to his wheels. I was at the top of the hill, on my bicycle, maybe nine or ten. I shifted my bike slightly and, thanks to gravity, started to roll down the incredibly steep slope as fast as said athlete. I was speeding towards the panes of glass and metal that served as a window-wall for our lounge room.

I fell off and hit the pavement, less than a meter away from said window arrangements and saving my family what likely would've been payments for a funeral, considering the amount of glass that would've gotten in my face. That, and a petty sum for fixing the windows back up. The only thing that stopped me was the slight raising of the ground from the pavement - all that was between me and the glass was the small garden with assorted flowers.

i was pushed off a trampoline and landed on my head and neck on the solid ground. logically, it should have killed me, paralyzed me, or at the very least hurt like a son of a *****. but after i landed, i stood up and realized it didnt even hurt.

I was caught in a current in a river and was being carried away (plus I don't know how to swim properly), but luckily there was a rock that I managed to grab on to. Scrambled up on it and yelled for help.

Very happy to be alive :)

Crashed on a motorcycle once, thought I was dying when I landed.
Escaped with a few broken ribs, a concussion and a chipped tooth.

Did not receive applause form my company captain. It was a brand new MC, and I killed it on the third day.

erm, this is hard, oh actually, i was driving home from college and it had been raining earlier so the roads were slippy, i was going seventy mph down a motorway/freeway and i wasnt really payig attention as its usually empty, but there was a huge traffic jam and i had to slam on the brakes

my car started sliding around, and hydroplaning, i decided to just turn into the hard shoulder and carry on sliding down that otherwise i would have almost definitely smashed into the car in front potentially killing them

What flight would that be?
I'll be honest and say i know very little about it. It was a small charter plane, holds about 30 people or somthing, about 15 where on board at the time. Clipped a flock of birds druing the flight somthing like that? My parents never really talked about it, just told me that it happened. I did find the news artilce about it, never gave much more detail tho.

Not getting hit by a truck.

There's not much to say here. I was walking home from work back in Calgary about 2 1/2 years ago. It was 40 below (Celsius & Fahrenheit!) and there was a blizzard. I hunkered down in my coat and was trudging home. I didn't see the light and the snow prevented me from knowing there was a curb so I had no idea I was crossing a road. If the moving-truck driver didn't see me, I would be paste right now.

About two weeks later I discovered the Escapist. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

The only thing i can think of is what happened to my Dark Heresy character last night. He should've died, really.

We're in a vacuum in space, and a man was pointing a plasma pistol at my character. I cut off this guy's hand and re-sealed his void suit before he died, because i didn't want to kill him (he was a member of the group). I turn around for a moment, working with the ship radio, and when i turn back around he had picked up the pistol with his other hand. The bad part starts here; I pass out from sheer stress (stupid malignancy) and he shoots while i drop. Instead of blasting a hole in my chest he blew off almost half my face. My DM had me roll, and I rolled a 1 (which is extremely good in DH, 100 is bad) and somehow i survived. Though i basically had a hemispherectomy-by-plasma of my right brain.
