So I've recently been introduced to the series Lost, and something I found interesting was the way people nicknamed themselves instead of going by their real name (who would?) I suppose I also found the polar bear interesting.

My question is, if you were isolated with a group of people who didn't know you, what would say your name was and why?

Either Durzo Blint or Kylar Stern, I would also say I am a famous assassin who operates under the alias of L'Ange de la Nuit.

I only have two nicknames I can think of. My first name is Jean-Luc so I've heard "Juke" which is kinda cool and I've also been called "Picard" for obvious reasons.

Funnily enough, I just found out last week that my parents really DID name me after Jean-Luc Picard so that one is no longer annoying.

I would call myself Sineamora so if you ever get trapped on this island you cannot pick your own username.

I'm betting a lot of people here are going to say something along the lines of "Look at my username."

I personally prefer 'Z' I've grown quite accustomed to it over the years and I like have a one-letter, one-syllable name.

Johannes Muchafson, a man on the run from the Russian mafia. It is an alter ego my friends made up for me.

Dunno. Could go with a guitar name 'Fender' or 'Gibson'

Might just go with a fake name 'Mel' seems the obvious choice

It would kinda depend, and I don't see much reason to not give it, especially with a group of strangers in a situation like that. Who would even know whether it was my real name or not? Even with Zombieland style examples, there's no reason that someone going by 'Dallas' or 'Washington' might not actually be called that.

When at work, I must go by my real name. However, most of the time, my friends call me Dublin, or Dub for short.

I'm not Irish, by the way, it's a long story. There could be a whole thread on the origin of nicknames, though.

My first name is Sebastian, but practically everybody in my school (even some of the teachers) call me C-bass. My friends, however, took it a step further and came up with names like Sebastard and Sea Biscuit.

I used to be called Trenchcoat (or Trenchy or Trench for short) for quite a while. But other than that I've never had one stick

The only Nick-name I was given as a child was Bear. But recently my friend Cristian is temporarily calling me sabertooth, after the X-men villian because of my long, claw-like fingernails. Need to get the damn things cut...
