Your Opinions about The Final Fantasy VII Remake for the PS3?

I could see it happening eventually though, they've been remaking all the other ones up til VII on gameboy DS and advance, and made a sequal of IV and an offshot of them all, Dissidia so SE seems entirely content on milking the fanboys of every dime their worth and VII would be the grandaddy of them all. If they're not making it currently i could see it happening which to be honest i support, not that i'd buy it just hopign it'd do well so they'd remake 8 and 9 my favorites

It's going to happen. When it'll happen is anyone's guess, but it'll happen. Remaking games with updated graphics, added features and reworked translation is something of a tradition at Square, and to assume they'd leave out their (arguably) most popular title is simply silly.

i'm concirened about how the part that everyone loved was the story, but with a remake,the story will be the same, thus boring, but if they change much, then ff7 fanboys will get more pissy then l4d2 boycotters.

I know it's probably been said already, but I want to reiterate...

There won't be an FFVII remake - the original dev team won't be involved, therefore it's not getting made. That video link was just a demo and doesn't mean anything. Square also doesn't want to risk losing any potential fanbase in the process, because you know if they did a remake, fans would whine and complain about things not being the same, or something not staying true to the original, etc. All I'd hear is complaints. Yes, FFVII was a good game, let it stay that way - in the past.

Final Fantasy VII was one of the good ones that were made but if you ask me only keeping it to the PS3 would not be such a smart idea since the newest one that is going to come out (Final Fantasy XIII) it's for both Main consoles (The 360 and the PS3) So if they do make it; it would make more sense to make it for the 360 and PS3

This happens on a monthly basis to me. I'll get a text or an e-mail saying "Look, Look! FFVII coming back in Hi-def!"

I imagine they may do it at some point, no doubt it'd make henious amounts of money, but not right before they're releasing a new game.

I seriously doubt they would remake FF7, and I also hope they won't.

They've remade up to VI for handhelds though haven't they? I wouldn't be surprised if they kept doing that throughout the series. I'd be pretty surprised at a PS3 version, all that FMV takes time to make.

They've never remade VI, they just ported it. All they changed was adding FMVs to the PSX version.

No sorry it isn't going to happen. Comparing remakes (though technically most of them are ports with added FMV) of old NES and SNES games to things like the GBA is no where the same as comparing a remake of a game that was released on the PSone to a game that would need to impress on the PS3. The man hours and cost alone would be in orders of magnitude bigger than those fairly simply ports.

To be honest I think we have seen the most we will get from FFVII on PS3 with it's release on PSN. I could go an check but I can;t be bothered, but I am pretty sure we haven;t had any FFVII related games released on the PS3, no spinoffs, no subcharacters tales, no unofficial sequels, nothing beyond that little nugget of FFVII gold on PSN. Infact I don't think we will see anything to do with the FFVII universe on this generations consoles. SE seem heavily invested in their new FFXIII universe and it's various parallel universes, as well as their new FFIX MMPORG.
