So here's the thing, I'm writing an article for my media class about the paranormal.
What I would like is for you kind people to tell me your views on the paranormal, any experiences if you've had one and such (Only if you're cool about me writing about it for a class...)

Well to get the ball rolling I'll tell of mine, it happened when I was younger. My aunt had an old piano in her house and apparantley I used to keep far away from it. When my parents noticed I was edging round it all the time they asked me why, to which I replied "There's a man sitting at it". They thought it was just a typical 5 year old imagination, but apparantley one night when I stayed at my aunts they woke up in the middle of the night to find me sitting in the living room talking to the piano. I said "It's O.K, he's a nice ghost" and from that day on wasn't scared of the piano anymore!
I don't really remember any of this, so I can't vouch for it being a genuine experience, for all I know I was just some crazy kid playing my games!

Your turn Escapists!

A true story, this really happened to me.

My mother got cancer and it was terminal. She decided not to fight it. We used to have a lot of debates about religion, so before she died, she told me this:

"If I'm able to do this after I die, I'll let you know whether I'm in a good place or a bad place. If you hear three knocks, that means I went somewhere good. If you hear two, that means I went somewhere bad."

A month or so after she passed away I heard some knocks at the door. I went to the door to take a look and nobody was there. I heard three separate groups of two knocks. Damn mum and her mixed messages.

Or was it two groups of three knocks?

Think positive!

OT: Other than the occasional whispers and bumps of the night, I've never really had a paranormal experience...

It was definitely three groups of two. So either things are three times as bad for her as what she expected, or they're so amazingly good that she doubled up on the knocking to tell me how good they were.

It was probably so amazing she decided to double up on the knocking. :)

I have seen a shadow person at the corner of my house when I was mowing the lawn. They are NOT fictional beings.

I can't believe people have atheist discussions all the time when ghosts have been proven to exist, just not on a level that science can keep and grasp.

I've seen random flashes outside.
Kinda like lightning (not the botl itself, just the light- like when you're not looking at it), except it was never raining/any other situation when a lightning might logically occur.

I was in this old quarantine station in sydney that used to operate in the times of the Spanish Flu. Well we were sitting in what was one the hospital while the guide told us about some of the stories that occured in that particular building. Me and my friend were sitting on one of the old beds that were restored, while the guide was telling us about the old hospital matron both of us got this weird push from behind us at the same time like we were being shooed off the bed. It was rather creepy....

Are you honestly suggesting that ghosts have been proven to exist?

How do you come to that conclusion?

I do not believe in paranormal stuff, but I had an experience when I was a kid that could be labeled as such (though I believe it is suggestion more than anything). You see, when I was 7, I lived in a small town at the south of our country (small like 4 houses, a hotel, and a school, and that was it), and at a point I found out that there was an indian cementery on our backyard, I was really scared about that, so one nigth (remember I was 7) I went to sleep with my parents, just before falling to sleep I saw 2 skeletons walking at near my parents bed..... but now that I am older, I recon it was only my mind playng tricks on me

Some interesting stuff, figured it would be better asking people instead of a pshycic who would be biased and probably try to sell themselves...
Are there any total sceptics though? Would be nice to have both sides!

Have had that happen a lot, especially around my family, you think someone is darting across your back yard but go to look and absolutely nothing. Its creepy at first but then you get use to it I guess.

I personally am sure theres something in my kitchen, the animals of the house hiss and fluff up when it night rolls around and they are looking into that room, also on a number of occasions during the night when I come downstairs to the kitchen I'll see a large shadow in the corner of my eye coming from behind. In the day the cats are fine with sleeping in the same room but at night its avoid at all costs.

I was in my room once and when I got up to use the bathroom, I was standing at the door, about to open it, then my TV remote flew across the room and almost hit me.

I no longer sleep there.

Not paranormal (at least I don't think so) but rather apparently relatively rare: Ball Lightning. I was awake during a storm (I couldn't been much older than 10) when I was looking out my window and a bright white ball appeared above the street and short bolts came out of it. It lasted for about 2-5 seconds if I remember correctly. As I said, it was a decade ago.

I?ve told this story before on a similar thread made months ago, but I?ll tell it again.

I was staying at a hotel in Derry for my Aunts wedding, which was at the end of August 2009.

The room I was sleeping in had a bust, which was glued to the table the head was also fixed to face the left side of the room. I didn?t really think much of the bust but the face kind of freaked me out, so before I went to sleep I threw a cloth over it. The next day I woke up to find the cloth on the floor and the bust which should be facing left, to be facing right, exactly where my bed was place. Thank god I went home that day.

Note: For those who don?t know a bust is a small statue of a person showing their head, neck and shoulders.

I don't fully believe in ghosts and the like, but I firmly believe in the vast power of the mind, to the point where I can explain (to myself, at least) every ghost story I hear by means of telepathy, telekinesis, etc.

My story, to illustrate that point, happened a good thirteen years ago. I had a girlfriend who used to say she would like to have twins as her firstborn, two boys precisely, and that she would name them Vinicius and Gabriel. We broke up, and some time later we were talking about getting back together, and I told her I would only get back with her if it was serious, if I got to father Gabriel and Vinicius.

About that time I came to my parents' house for a vacation, very far from where she lived. One night, I was talking to my son, who was five at the time, just before he fell asleep. He was talking to me with his eyes half-closed, and suddenly he asked me in a dreamy voice: "Daddy, wouldn't it be funny if I had twin brothers?". And then, when I told him sure, it would be very funny, he asked me: "But if I had twin brothers, how could I tell Gabriel and Vinicius apart?".

That freaked me out to the point that I dreamed about my ex-girlfriend that night. And, sure enough, the next day she called me to tell me she knew I had dreamed of her. I asked her how she knew, and she told me: "Because I woke up in the middle of the night feeling a very distinct presence in the room with me. I wasn't scared, because I felt loved and protected by that presence. And then my eyes adapted to the darkness and I saw you standing there, in the corner of the room, watching me."

So, there you have it. If you consider mind-reading and consciousness-projection as paranormal, that was the only paranormal experience I had in my life.
