What would your reaction be if Nintendo dropped out of home consoles? I think it would feel pretty weird to not have a home console by Nintendo anymore.

Well, it will certainly reduce how much I fret over whether to buy Sony's or Microsoft's console to complement my Nintendo console. After that, I'd be embarrassed to show my face for a few weeks considering how often I try to tell people that Nintendo leaving the home console market is very unlikely.

I would be upset. It would speak poorly of the gaming industry if the one and only company dedicated to gaming, could not continue making home consoles. While other companies who simply have gaming as a part of them, continue to make consoles.

Microsoft and Sony are probably more likely to leave the console business. Microsoft hasn't made a profit on the Xbox brand and Sony just took a hit on there credit rating. Fingers cross PlayStation Now works out.

It´s really indifferent to me if they go multi plat or not. I got me a PS4 and will likely pick up a Wii U or a 3DS later this year.

I'd effectively be done with gaming overall. Sony has not interested me since the PS2, Microsoft burnt me too much with their business practices, and playing on a PC does not entice me enough to continue the process of upgrading the hardware. I was burnt out by the AAA industry around the middle of last generation of consoles and indies don't do enough to justify buying consoles for them.

If Nintendo leaves, then I'll leave. Not much else to do really.

I would give very little care.

I don't like platformers (Mario's Out) and I don't like the 3D Zelda/Metroid games (HATE the 3D stuff).

The only series Nintendo has that would peak my interest would be Fire Emblem but even that would only slightly peak it. I thought that Awakening was easily the weakest game of the series and I'm worried that the trend will continue in that direction.

Trying to figure out how to get back to my homeworld because I've obviously stepped into an alternate dimension. There's really no way they can go 3rd party due to their resources.

I may actually buy something from them again. Right now, I don't really care enough about Nintendo any more to actually make it worth the purchase of a piece of hardware. If, however, I could sprinkle the odd Nintendo title between other games I actually do enjoy on hardware that supports that full variety of titles then I would be happy about it.

"I was right, the Wii U really is the new Dreamcast!"

Mainly I'd just be surprised it happened this quickly. And not look forward to Nintendo turning into another bland unremarkable company like SEGA. Which they would once they stopped trying to make unique and interesting games that would sell hardware, and instead focused on making games that would sell period.

My feelings exactly. Sure, still being able to get new Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros. would be nice, but knowing that the people who make games their main priority to get out of the console business would feel awful.

I will admit that Nintendo is by far my favorite of the big three, though I get the other systems too, so in reality it wouldn't be the end of the world to get Nintendo games on the other systems. It would just suck to see my favorite, along with the oldest in the race to disappear.

It would be a sad, cold day in video game land. I mean, SEGA has never been the same since they went third party.

Luckily, that's not gonna happen to Nintendo, at least not any time soon. People need to realize that Nintendo has a huge amount of liquid capital to work with. It would take three consecutive Wii U duds in a row to put them in the kind of red that would necessitate such a move. Also, working with defined proprietary hardware gives Nintendo an edge in development. I'm not going to explain that one because it should be logically obvious. If Nintendo had to worry about cross platform development it would dilute some of that "Nintendo magic", bet on it.

As long as all the games came out on the PC, then I wouldnt care at all. If Nintendo needs to have a hardware gimmick with all of their games, then just ship the hardware with the game.

I really dont enjoy having to buy a console just to play Nintendo games. I just think their developers could do SO much more with the power of current technology. A hardware gimmick really isnt NEEDED IMO, and it doesnt make the games any different than could be had with a normal controller and a screen. The Extra screen of the Wii U gamepad is nice, especially for games like Zelda, but really not needed for games that dont really need a bunch of menus.

Also, I want some Oculus Rift Nintendo games, but that will never happen :(
When you say you don't want to buy a Nintendo console just for their games do you include Sony and Microsoft as well?Because I find it confusing how people use that arguement to justify wanting Nintendo to get rid of their exclusives when Microsoft and Sony do the same thing in regards to enticing people to buy their consoles.
Also the rift on it's own is a gimmick, not every single person on the planet likes the rift and won't ever, not every game should ever need the rift and while some games will it makes the device a gimmick of it's own.

I still don't get this massive never going to happen pipe dream of having all them exclusives on just PC.

OT: I think a huge part of gaming would be dead to me seeing as how Nintendo care about gaming first and graphics later (which most devs should be aiming for instead of pumping up the costs for graphics), not to mention we'd then have people just begging for what's left of Nintendo even though I'd be sure all their games would never ever touch a Microsoft, Sony and PC platform.

Sure, I cannot wait for the hookshot DLC when the next Zelda will come out?

Don't know why everyone is anti-WiiU. I've tried the damn thing and you don't necessarily have to over-gimmicky with it.
