As the title says, what are your ideas for a spin-off of a game? Take a real game and put a twist on it that you think would take it in an interesting direction.

My idea:
Fallout: Day One. After running out of your meager supplies, you emerge from your bunker in a radiation suit...twenty-four hours after the nuclear war. The game would require the player to wear a radiation suit when aboveground, and face various new types of mutants.

[small] Please don't post if you are going to say that spin-offs are bad in general. [/small]

An inFamous spin-off where you got more freedom with your powers. I want to deal high damage, low ROF attacks but the game won't let me. Stealth, guns, knives, so much potential. (I know guns were explained away in the story, but still. He could wear gloves or something).

FALLOUT: The final hour

A psychopath ghoul has been making more nukelear bombs for the last 150 years (set in 2244) A man has come into town saying this man will drop the nukes in 5 months and wipe out the rest of the human race. you have to stop the ghoul or help him in that time. You will come across a lot of different characters and side quests in your search for this ghoul or just wandering around the wastes.

ShadowRun 2: Where they take the first game, patch up a few bugs, give the graphics a rehaul and release more maps. Bonus: Add a campaign? o_O

Far Cry 2: The Passing.

Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2 characters meet in a bar.

Hilarity ensues.

Spin-off's in gaming generally don't work well. I mean... Halo Wars, anyone..?

However, I would say that a modern-day Company of Heroes would be interesting. Joint Strike Force came close, though.

Make a game with Mass Effect's universe and gameplay and the such in a Dragon Age style game. Picking your origin, not just Paragon or Renegade choices, and all that good stuff.

I would squee, oh, how I would squee.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Rehab and Redemption

After his latest in a stream of failures, Sonic decides he is tired of being a washed up drunk who is only good for infomercials while his great rival Mario still hangs out in the heavy weight division of boxing while being a highly paid physician. Sonic promptly signs himself into rehab.

Your goal is to help Sonic get himself clean, and then help him work himself back into someone Mario would be willing to call a respectable rival.

My console pokemon RPG idea which will never be made. Using only first (maybe second) generation pokemon. You are an aspiring young trainer, who gets his first pokemon. You roam about an open world, with no random battles, but the pokemon litter the landscape. Leveling is faster, so you don't have to butcher every pokemon you see just for EXP. More emphasis is put on trainer battles than poaching.

When you enter a pokemon battle, instead of being a trainer, you get to "pilot" the pokemon in real time, rather than turn based. You have an HP bar, and an energy bar. Several of the buttons respond to attacks, others to evasive movement, or special movement, such as flying/tunneling/swimming. Each attack, evasive maneuver, and special movement uses a unique amount of energy relevant to the movement, or power of the attack. Also, being on the receiving end of an attack will lower your energy meter in relation to how much damage is dealt. Running out of energy makes your pokemon move slower, and very vulnerable for a brief period of time, of course.

As a trainer, you gain reputation based on your willingness to participate in trainer battles, gym battles, etc. Refusing battles results in gaining a "wimpy" reputation, where actively pressing everyone for a battle will make you appear bloodthirsty. You can get other types of reputations as well, such as being a breeder, poacher, or pokemon thief.

But doubtful that Nintendo would change the cash cow to improve the actual game, against just pumping out a new generation with minor changes.

..anyhow, I'd like to see a Star Wars: Battlefront-type Halo game. Except a lot better, obviously.
This guy's got it.

A Pokemon MMO (emphasis on lack of RPG). Get rid of the ancient RPG gameplay and you've got a stellar IP to work with.

Why thankyou, do I get candy or some type of foodstuff in return for my brilliance?
Um...sorreh, ah eats it all already.

Actually my idea was a Pokemon game that allows you to travel between all regions, not just one or two, but all. It's not super linear but more of a sandbox.
