Let's face it, cartoons have a really long history of having awesome theme songs. And much like my "High Fidelity" counterpart, I have a penchant for wondering why chicks inevitably leave me and for making top five lists. So give it to me folks. What is your top five favorite cartoon theme songs.

For me?
1. Ducktales - Yeah, Disney sucks, but that song could get stuck in my head for days at a time.
2.Spongebob Squarepants - A cartoon I never could really get behind, but damn, if that theme song wasn't awesome.
3. Doug - brilliant in it's simplicity but solid and extremely catchy. A theme that truly set the tone for a great cartoon.
4. Freakazoid - Done in the same vain as shows like "Animaniacs" and "Pinky & the Brain", the theme had a very 60's esque chorus basically giving you the layout of the show. It outlined very clearly the type of shenanigans you were about to witness.
5. Tom & Jerry - This one is kind of hard to nail down, because it didn't have the consistency of the rest of the shows, but I think most of you know what I'm talking about. This was back in the day, when they took great pride in orchestrating their animated shorts. Tom & Jerry never lacked in great music, and this was exemplified in their short opening tune that appeared in front of most of the shorts.

Hmmm... I've never really thought about it before. I guess I didn't really have a favorite even when the cartoons were on. Maybe Rocko's Modern Life because it was incredibly creepy and crazy, but then again I'm not sure if I liked that because of the song or the graphics, its hard to say now all these years later.

I cannot remember all of them but here it goes.

1) First Spider Man animation theme, I don't know if it came before the animation but it was there so SPIDER MAN FTW!!!
2) Inspector Gadget spectacular theme, great riff you got to admit.
3) Pokemon Theme, first season of course, the others sucked in comparison. I usually sing it to annoy everyone that hates Pokemon. :D
4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme since no one can denie it's awsomeness.
5) Smurfs jolly sugar coated happiness to evil bastard shows up theme.

1. Ed, Edd n' Eddy - I thought that the Ed trio had probably one of the best opening theme songs. It was simple, fun and the opening sequence was funny. What did Ed use Double-D for?!

2. Dexter's Labratory - I always loved Dexter's Lab, and the episode "Trapped With A Vengeance" is still one of my favorite episodes ever, but the theme song was perfect for Dex and Dee Dee. Then it had to go to seed with the new animation style and being less about Dexter being in the lab making overly-obtuse things and computations and we got stuck with things like "A Dad Cartoon".

3. Samurai Jack - Or as I like to call it, "A Precursor To Samurai Champloo And Afro Samurai". Shows about wandering samurais seem to always be awesome, wether they be japanese, over-the-top flipping-out, straight-edge or with an afro that would make the entirety of the 1970s jealous. Samurai Jack's theme song really seemed to connect well to the show, the old instruments with the hip-hop beat really worked, and it has again been applied to Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai.

4. Freakazoid! - Freakazoid's theme song was crazy, wild and silly, just like its star. A perfect fit.

5. Hellsing - Much as the anime didn't fit the mangas (a sin which is being forgiven by the Hellsing Ultimate OVA), the theme song was smooth, slick and definately cool.

Honorable Mention: Aqua Teen Hunger Force - NUMBA ONE IN THE HOOD, G.

You may have noticed four of the top five (I may be mistaken and all of them) appeared on Cartoon Network. Well that was when CN was good, what can I say.
