Alright, as you can see I'm new to this site, but I'm a sucker for top 10 lists. I love looking at other people's opinion, while people look at mine, so....what is your top ten video games. I'll start with mine.

7. God of War III
6. Pokemon Black and White

-Mod edit: Could be a good idea to add why these things are in your top ten. Thanks!

Kind of hard for me to make a top ten list. There's so many games to choose from.

So, I guess this list is in no particular order (except maybe the first three or so)

1. Shadow of the Colossus

Played through this game so many times. Can never get enough of it. A simple yet engaging story, awesome fights against the colossi, one of my most favorite soundtracks ever. This is my go to game.

2. Final Fantasy IX

Definitely a surprise hit for me. I've played this gem back in 2010 after playing VII and I practically fell in love with it. Has probably one of my favorite endings in a game.

3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Nothing like sneaking through the jungle and knocking out some unsuspecting soviets. Oh, and the story's really cool too.

4. Valkyria Chronicles

Another surprise hit. Between the strategic gameplay, the wonderful story and characters, and the pretty cel shaded graphics, this game is very fun and very charming.

5. Disgaea series (I've played 1 and 2 so far, can't really choose between the two)

Got into this series thanks to HCBailly. Can't believe I've been missing out on this series! Incredibly deep gameplay and customization, a quirky and fun story and cast of characters, I've already clocked in over 100 hours in 1 and nearly 50 in 2. Going to play through 3 and 4 in preparation for D2. Awesome games!

6. Fallout: New Vegas
Didn't really care for this game the first time through, so I ended up rushing through the main story. Nearly two years later, I came back to this and fell in love with it. This game's world is vast and immersive, has a nicely written plot and a large and awesome cast of characters. Veronica and Arcade FTW!

Sure, it's kinda glitchy, but I was able to look past it's faults and had a hell of a time.

7. ICO
A simple and short game. But it was a great one nonetheless.

8. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Yes, a lot of the mudokuns are nearly impossible to find without a guide. But to me, this remains a classic to this day. With it's unique world, character designs, challenging gameplay, and dark humor.

9. Spyro the Dragon
First game I have ever beaten. Sure, future games improved upon the controls, levels, and story. But this game always holds a special place in my heart.

10. Team Fortress 2
One of the most fun and addicting multiplayer shooters I've played. With a large variety of classes and weapons to play around with, the game has a lot of ways to kill, burn, stab, maim, blow up, and chop up your foes. It also has a really awesome series of trailers each focusing on the nine different classes you can play as.

And it's free.

I actually keep a semi-active list of my top ten games, but I won't consider replacing one until I've had time to think about it a lot. So this list is somewhat dated and inFamous/Kingdom Hearts would be the first to go if I elected a new game to hold a spot; in fact those two have already fallen out of my favour a bit compared to the rest. Also I have an "only one game per franchise" rule. But anyway, this is the most satisfactory I can get it for now:

10. inFamous

9. Kingdom Hearts

8. Shadow of the Colossus

7. Spyro the Dragon

6. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

5. Final Fantasy VI

4. Persona 3 FES

3. BioShock

2. Sly 2: Band of Thieves

1. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

New to the site as well and what better first post than a top 10?

1) Dark Souls - Loved Demon's as well but this game improved upon it in every way. The level-design, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the deliberately paced music; rarely have I played a game with such a clear vision and focus. To be honest I don't even really like 'difficult' games(usually always play on medium or even easy) but something about the Souls games just immediately clicked with me. The gameplay is just so fun and rewarding and that pervasively oppressive and melancholical atmosphere really draws me in. The way the story is scattered throughout the game world for you to piece together is brilliantly done and really captivates your imagination.

2) Resident Evil 4 - Shinji Mikami's masterpiece. I can't really think of anything I don't like about this game. Tempted to put this even above Dark Souls. Can't wait for Evil Within the true sequel to RE4 we never got.

3) Street Fighter 2 - Pure nostalgia as I don't even like 2D fighters(or fighters in general) anymore. But just have so many fond childhood memories attached to this game.

4) Resident Evil Remake - The definitive remake of a survival horror classic. Instead of changing the core mechanics they just amplified what made the classic so great, culminating in one dark, moody and suspenseful game.

5) Batman Arkham City - Such an amazing and fun game. A true love letter to the character and lore.

6) Resident Evil 2 - One of the best sequels ever made. So rich on content with the two scenarios as well.

7) Final Fantasy 7 - Still my favorite JRPG of all time. Not a really big fan of the genre anymore but Squarsoft(at the time) was really in its prime during the PS1 days.

8) The Last of Us - This game definitely deserved all the praise it got. There is a certain gravity to the story, characters, setting and your actions within them. Another example of a game with a clear focus. The gameplay actually reminded me a lot of Manhunt on the PS2. A very underrated game.

9) Legacy of Kain: Soulreaver - This series had such a great story and some of the best voice acting. Too bad it never made a return.

10) Super Mario Kart - Another one for pure childhood nostalgia.

10. Borderlands 2

9. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

8. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

7. Super Mario 64

6. Pokemon Crystal

5. Mario Kart 64

4. Just Cause 2

3. Cave Story- Platforming gameplay concentrated into its purest, most excellent state. It's not the perfect game, as perfection requires both a total absence of flaws and being the superlative of every remotely applicable good quality. Nonetheless, it is still absolutely flawless and I will say that to the grave.

2. Mega Man Battle Network 2- Yes, the plot makes no sense. The characters are horrible and universally unlikable (save for Bass!). The setting is ridiculous, and the writing is cringe-worthy. But a combination of sheer nostalgia and excellent boss battles propels this to my number two slot. I won't lie and call this one of the best games ever made, in fact, it's a minor blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things. It's only vaguely remembered as is because it's a Mega Man game.

1. Super Smash Bros- Accept no imitations. The number one multiplayer experience on this earth, bar none. Further explanation is unnecessary.

I like the idea of an averaged out Top 10, but it should be expanded out to a Top 25 or something of the sort to accommodate that a lot of different games will show up on this list. Maybe a Top 15.

You have an awful taste in games!
DRAGON AGE 2?!?
HALO 4?!
A.v.P. 2!
PROTOTYPE?!!/!?! ERRH MERHH GERRRD
OT. I put a lot of time in this list so please take the time to read it

10.Assassins Creed 2 - it was my first xbax (yes, the a is intentional) 360 game (not counting the games i got with the xbax) and since the best looking game i played before that where team fortress 2 and some ps2 games, you could have imagined my face!It was a great game and no other AC game matched it... plus its free for XBL gold members!

9.Pokemon crystal - this was my first pokemon game, and before that i watched only the cartoon...The game was what i wanted and then some! I especially liked it since it was the generation of pokemon i watched when i was growing up and after crystal i loved the other ones.

8.Kindgom Hearts 2 - this was possibly my first ps2 game,if i remember correctly....I was literally taken away on the adventure and it was fucking great, and every time i either see gameplay or hear the music i nostalgizz (that phrase is copywritten, sorry)

7.portal 2 - its just a really fun,smart,creative and entertaining game,simple as that!

6.Read dead redemption - this is one of the best looking games i have seen and it is awesome! The story is incredible and the ending is apsolutely incredible,it made me shed a tear...or two...or seven....

5.tetris -in my opinion the greatest game ever created. It's simple, easy to learn hard to master,it can enhance your abilities(forgot which) and is really fun! I can play tetris like a pro after playing 10 rounds every day for a year on my phone (NOT TOUCH-SCREEN!)And did i also mention its free and available on every single platform! YOU CAN PLAY IT ON A FRIDGE!!!

4.Shadow of the collossus-I played this one a LOOOONG time ago and i loved it and it easily became one of my favorite games of all time but the only reason this is 4 and not 3 is becaue i haven't played it in forever,i watched some gameplay and it helped but i still want to play it.

3. Spec ops:the line - best story in a game by far...Also the best cover shooting in a game! I love this game to death and the only problem i have with it is the last fucking level on hardened ops....And don't get me started on FUBAR!!! CURSE YOU!! And before you google what foobar stands for it stands for Fucked Up Beyound Any Recognition...just like the difficulty...Also,my first 100% completed game

2.Metal gear solid 3 Snake eater -this game was simmilar to SoTC in that i loved it but didn't play it...And thank GOD for HIDEO FREAKIN' KOJIMA and his HD collection GLORY!! At first i hated it,the controls and camera are awful!!But not really, after an hour of adapting i overcomed the controls and had a hell of a time...Also,I wanted to 100% complete the HD collection but FUCK THAT!To me,MGS 3 is the LoTR of gaming...And i don't like LoTR (THE AMMOUNT OF TIME WASTED WALKING IS TOO DAMN HIGH!!)

1.Dark souls - this is the only game i can play to literally no end.I have beaten it around 10 times, and have spent over 200 hours in the game.I wen't on an achivement quest where the goal was to get all of the achivements...I didn't exit my bed or the house for a month....If you didn't know,to get all of the achivements you need to beat the game 2.5 times minimum..but since i fucked something up,i beat the game 4 times. And i regret nothing!! To be honest tho,im a little burned out on it.but after so much time that is bound to happen!

I wonder how many people actually read the lists others have posted. I mean honestly, practically all the post in this thread will just look like this. The saddest thing is most people won't even notice that I'm made this observation and will just scroll past my post to enlighten the world with their top 10 only further proving my point.

1. Shadow Of The Colossus, because we're all hipsters here.
2. ACTUAL favourite game goes here.
3. Obscure shit no-one's heard of but you.
4. A Valve Game
5. AAA Action (A. Creed, MGS, Batman, Bioshock etc.)
6. Another Valve Game.
7. Random retro game to make me look complex.
8. Zelda Game, Any Zelda Game.
9. Guilty pleasure, or Third Valve Game.
10. Random AAA as I could only think of 9 games.

It could be worse, at least the Escapist are filled with hipsters who think SOTC is awesome, and not the far more common child of '64 (and I don't mean the year). Kids that grew up with an N64 so blinded by nostalgia that more than half their top 10 will be N64 games. Obviously Ocarina Of Time gets #1 because of reasons... the others can go in any order really but you must include GoldenEye, Super Mario 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Majora's Mask and Banjo-Kazooie in there somewhere.
Or maybe people like games like Shadow of the Colossus and Ocarina of Time because they are good games. And maybe Valve actually makes good games as well. Maybe there are some very good AAA games around. Nah, that can't be. Perish the thought...

Why don't you make a change with your own list?
