Although I've seen a couple of threads about our avatars and why we picked them, but I've never seen a thread about everyone's usernames, about what they mean and why we picked them. So I ponder this question to all Escapist members, why did you pick your username and what does your username mean.

For me, I picked my for two reasons, I picked Kitsune, because I like foxes and they're one of my favourite animals and I picked the Hunter part as a homage to one of my favourite anime, Hunter X Hunter.

But enough about me, what about your username?

Well, Azure is my favourite shade of blue and Supernova is just a really cool word! The inspiration is partly from the Oasis song, Champagne Supernova.

I've had a few people ask about mine but it hasn't garnered the interest that my avatar has. Anyway the username "staika" was derived after mishearing something my dad said to me about 6-7 years ago. I had no idea that the word existed so I started using it as a username for most things. Later it turns out that my dad had no idea what I was talking about when I told him the story again, so maybe it came to me in a dream >.>

Though I did learn a year or two ago that a staika is a tent and a mountain in Sweden (I think it was there >.>) so it is around more places than I originally thought =P

Daystar Clarion is the name of a sword from a series of novels.

Forged from a piece of star, the whole weapon is on fire, not just the blade and can only be wielded by certain people.

'Fiz' is a nickname that I have with a group of friends that I have. I don't really remember how I actually got it, but then again I have so many nicknames with them it's hard to keep track how they all came to be.

'Toaster' I got from this little (and I mean little) plush toaster that a friend of mine made for me on my birthday. It looks all mean and angry, and it's part of an inside joke. It's sitting on my desktop now and I just happened to look at it when I was creating my user name.

How utterly boring that story is. :D

All you need to know is that it means I'm totally hilarious. "Total Laugh Out Loudage". I don't know why I picked it, lolige sounded cool when I was 13.

Way back when I was young, I went to sign up for Runescape. I couldn't think of a user name, and one of my friend's just came to me. It was something along the lines of Loveyman(Somenumbers). I stole the man part, and to indicate that I stole it I put the word "moc" in front. As I was quite young I didn't have a great understanding of what it meant to mock something, and I've always been a poor speller (Spellcheck FTW). I use it because then I don't have to have numbers in my name.

The Magicite Spring is a plot point in my book that I haven't written and probably won't, and it totally isn't like the Mako Springs from Final Fantasy VII

In the comic book series The Invisibles, there's a character called Queen Mab. And since Michael is what my ma and pa named me, and I'm a tranny, it seemed appropriate.

I'm terrible at coming up with good names, so it took forever to try and come with my xbox gamer tag.

While I was trying to think of something I heard this clip from big bang theory in the backgroud. My sister and mom were watching it really loudly for some reason.

I thought it was a neat enough for a username, so I reused it here.

Beats me. I also haven't read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell in quite a few years and yet not only is that my avatar here but I use the name Jonathan Strange frequently in other places online.

Good book though, go read it!

"Soran" and "Bane" are the names of a couple of characters from a terrible story I tried to write when I was about ten. The "M" in the middle stands for my real last name.

I made this account when i was young and naive , and used to be on a lot of dating sites . Krazykidd was my name on everything. I regret it now though , while i could change it , i feel almost as if my name is important ( even if people probably don't recognize me).

Me? My username sucks.

My steam username is "My username sucks", and it was born from a conversation I had where I said something along the lines of "my usernames suck, so I think the humane thing to do is warn people.

I've kept it for five years since then because I get good feedback for it, surprisingly.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure everyone would still recognize you because you put spaces on both sides of your punctuation. It's a very distinct writing style.

I would be the one to talk, having this senseless mix of words to form sentences.

We've actually had these threads a few times before, but I'm not one to stifle boring stories about times past in light of the fires raging throughout the rest of this site right now.

This was the address name of my first e-mail account about twelve years ago, something easy to remember and related to my likes at the time.

As I'm terribly unoriginal, I used that name again when I signed up here, because I figured using the name of my primary World of Warcraft character might've seemed a little odd and sounds a fair bit darker than my personality tends to actually be. I've considered switching anyway a few times, but I like the child-like innocence associated with the phrase "shrekfan".

Around early 1997 a few friends and me regularly held these really small lanparties with a dozen people at most, playing mostly Quake and Red Alert and such.

The first few times I picked nicknames at random, based on what I saw or heard in the room. One time, a song by Limp Bizkit was playing and I kinda liked the way that name sounded, but I didn't want to copy it exactly, so I changed it to Chimp Nitwitz.

A few months later I shortened it down to either Chimpy or Chimpzy. I've used it ever since. That's all there is to it.

Back in my middle school days, the only thing me and my friend wanted to do was play World of Warcraft. We had no jobs, and our weekly allowance was not enough to afford the 15 bucks a month to pay, so we made use of the free trials shall we say liberally. So, whenever we went to his grandpa's house, usually every other weekend, we would have to make brand new WoW accounts to keep using the 10 free days. It was my turn to choose one week our username and password. I knew my race and class was going to be a Night Elf warrior, so I just ended up putting elf and gore together for the username and BOOM!, Elfgore came to be. No one has every used it before so, it became my username for pretty much everything.

Its the name of a villain in a Garth Nix series I rather liked when I was younger, and it just sounds kind of cool.

It's just a name I've used since early high school and if you put it into Google you'll find they're a game dev not many people have head of. Though right now I'm switching over to using 'HandsomeDave'.
