So have to arm yourself and are limited to what you can carry and make up why you need to arm yourself

guns:
A sniper rifle
44 magnum ok well I probably couldn't handle one of those, a hand gun anyway

alternitivley old style weopons:
Katana
bow and arrow

and in both cases a knife/pocket knife

and Im arming myself because its post apocolypitc in Australia and Im going to hide out in the bush

For guns, I shall equip an M1 Garand and a Smith and Wesson 500.

Alternate weapons include a bowie knife and a small arsenal of throwing knives.

I'm not very much into guns, so I'll stick with blades. Probably a Claymores and two longswords.
Well, I may be a little more vulnerable with no guns, but at least I'll not have to worry about ammo or my weapons jamming, but I'll need something to keep them sharp.

Well the handgun is reasonable, though you'd want to pick a more available ammo-type then 44 mag. And asking for a "sniper rifle" in a post-apocalyptic setting is a bit odd, since most of the higher-powered rounds they fire aren't just readily available.

For instance, I'd probably just want a bolt action 30-06, since I can get that ammo everywhere. I can walk into any Walmart and get 30-06 ammo. That's on top of the fact that a bolt action has less moving parts the a semi automatic or lever action, and therefore would probably, depending on conditions, last longer.

But if I'm firing something like 7.62mm rounds (Or the fabled 50 cal round), where the heck would I get that in a destroyed world? Gun shops? Maybe. There is way more common ammo then 'sniper rifle' ammo (As ambiguous as that is).

I'd also probably get a shotgun (12 gauge. Way more common) with a rifled barrel. Maybe a second barrel will a full choke in case I can't find any slug rounds, and can only get shot.
