Despite my attitude towards his movies, I feel really bad for this tragic news. I offer my prayers and condolences to him and his family.

Some news links would be nice.

I heard about this but haven't read any articles, yet. I wish him and his family well.

I hope we won't be swamped with bitter cynics mocking a family tragedy about how they dislike/hate his movies.

My condolences to Snyder and his daughter, I completely understand why he left the director's chair and hope he gets through with his grief.

And I apoligize if my thread was careless, I was only focusing on the fact that Joss Wheadon is now on the director's chair thinking Snyder's personal situation was something I have no buisness in partaking or commeting on.

I was rejoicing when I heard the news, but this is not how I imagined it happening. Prayers and condolences to his family as well.

If anyone was wondering, apparently his daughter committed suicide back in March.

My thoughts and heart goes out to him and his family. He should all the time off he needs because it's not an easy matter to try and not focus on with work. A lot of respect to you Snyder.

I was looking forward to him doing JL, but family is way more important, so I understand. My prayers goes out to him and his family.

Poor Zack. One day people will appreciate what he was doing with Batman v Superman. He might have made a good Justice League movie but spending time with his family and dealing with his grieve is clearly more important than directing. Can't imagine what he's going through and that he carried on for two months does speak for his work ethic.

Also, sorry for the language I will use here but fuck those in social media who are cheering this news. You see, as much as that format can be used for good, you have arseholes who will use it for being a bunch of cunts and bring out the worse in humanity with zero compassion and respect. Awful awful people.

That's very sad to hear, I've always been a fan and defender of Zack's films and I wish him and his family my deepest sympathies.

Can I also say that is very heartening to see such a show of condolences here however where he certainly had more than his fair share of critics. An encouraging show of maturity and respect that one dosen't always see on the internet.

Poor bastard. While his directing has been hit and miss generally he's a guy with a vision and i respect that. Also no-one deserves to lose a child. I hope he can recover from this.

Amazingly even Warners seem to be less dickish than usual about the whole thing.

I've never been particularly enamored with Snyder's work, but no parent should outlive their child, especially not like that. My sympathies and condolences.

And anyone sincerely cheering because of this, or saying he deserved it for making 'shitty movies'? Go ahead, try doing that outside of the relative safety of the internet and see how long it takes for someone to slap your shit. Have some goddamn fucking basic human decency!

I may have creative issues with the man but that is an inhuman demonstration of honoring his written commitment to a show. I would not be working if dealing with that. I wish him the best.

People should be giving him space and time. I hope he gets it.

Oh, Christ. I hadn't heard about that.

Zack, on the off-chance your grief causes you to browse the Escapist forums: I always loved your movies. Every single one. Even Sucker Punch.

I've seen people use the heart react on Facebook for articles about this. They can go fuck themselves.

I don't think Zack the creative and I will ever see eye to eye on what he was doing with DC, but Zack the father has nothing but my sincerest thoughts and condolences because this is just fucked.

As for his critics using this as a springboard for giving him shit, there is no boot large enough to kick your fucking teeth in with but me and my size 12s are willing to give it a red hot go.

Could be an empathetic response instead of a cheerful - "lovin' these news" - one.

OT: Lovin' these news.

While I don't think his movies are great, this is tragic news and something no parent should ever have to experience. Can only express deep sympathies for how hard this must be for him and his family and wish them deepest condolences and a long life.

Surprised that they get Joss Whedon, but I suppose he's not beholden to any one studio. His success with Avengers and talent in general make him a good choice.

While I haven't seen eye to eye with him in a lot of his work, there are no words to describe the tragedy he is experiencing now, and I wish him and his family the strength to recover from it.
