Ok, it's seems i'm the only one liking this game on the forums, because any thread made on zelda was only to rant about it. but i guess a few here might have played the game.

Alright, been a while since i was that invested in a game. ok, i really love this game now. while the first 5 to 10 hours was a bit tedious, because let's face it, the game doesnt tell you anything on what you can do or not. and the more you play, the more you realise the potential of what you can do with this game, and how the empty space is not all empty.

so the discution is, what have you tried to do ? what kind of discovery and experimentation have you done in Zelda ? or what funny thing have you seen ? what hint and tips you have ?

i tamed and mounted a bear

i realised that blue chuchu gelly can be transformed by either fire, ice and electricity to make red, blue and yellow gelly. put gelly in fire, you got red, put gelly in ice water, and you got white. but my favorite, put a dozen blue gelly on the floor in a thundstorm, and equip yourself with a metal shield or weapon. when the item start to get electric arc around it, meaning that a lightning will soon strike it, drop it just beside the gelly on the floor and run. the lightning will continue to lock on it, and will strike the ground where you dropped it, sending all the gelly flying around in the air, but, now yellow.

using the same method, you can drop a metal shield around sleeping enemies to get them burn by God.

speaking of chuchu gelly, i'm trying to do some experimentation to create some kind of bomb. i drop a yellow chuchu on the ground for exemple, attach one or two balloons to it then use a korok leaf to send it away near unsuspected enemies. when the balloon pop, the gelly drop in the ennemy camp (hopefully) and then hit it with an arrow.

farming arrows. when there a bokoblin on a tower shooting arrows at you, run around and let him shoot you, then pickup the arrows on the ground.

with the balloon, i've tried to make a floating raft, but you need at least four balloons, and you have to place them at each corner or the raft will not be stable. but i havent got much success about it.

bomb fishing. why catching live fish ? throw a bomb in the water, the detonation will kill the fishes and you can just pickup the dead one floating on the surface.

make a catapult. with the magnet tool, i put a metal plank on top of a cutted tree, then while standing on the tip of the polank, i raised a metal boulder in the air, and dropped it on the other side of the plank. it fling me very high into the air...

i shoot an apple with an arrow. the apple fall on the ground in the distance (propelled with the arrow) and a bokoblin start running after to eat it...

One thing i really like in this game is the monster behaviour. i've seen bokoblin hunting deers. one time i was sneaking near a Moblin, and for some reason it seems to start a fight with an bokoblin. the bokoblin tried to hit him, and the moblin took the poor bokoblin, and toss him at me. i still dont know if it was intentional, or if he just throw it randomly and happen to hit me. bokoblin throwing explosive barrel at me (and killing themselves by with it). Bokoblin seems to have a special relation with fire. sometimes they put their weapon of fire and danse with them in the air.

you can actually send back a guardian laser beam with your shield. you can also cut their legs, or ram them with your horse.

i'm still not sure what the bat wings are use for. anyone knows ?

cooking just before the red moon give a bonus to your meal

So, anyone else have experiences to share ?

I've done a lot of bombing, I can tell you that. Favourite bombing tactic: Put a bomb inbetween me and a bobokin on horseback, whistle to get his attention, wait for him to run over the bomb. BOOM!!! The horse survives and the bobokin gets rocketed into the air. The most satisfying kills I've gotten yet.

I've used my arrows as torches. You can light a regular arrow on fire by drawing it and angling it into a flame. Then instead of firing it just walk with your bow drawn and angle the tip into whatever you want to torch. This helped out a great deal during a quest where I had to light a bunch of lanterns, and I didn't want to keep finding branches.

Pro tip: Boboklins cannot swim. Knock them into the water and they dies instantly. I like to steal their big fuck-off clubs and play baseball with their heads. I get homeruns if I knock them into a river or deep lake.

According to the wikia, the best place to find them is the eastern part of North Tabantha Snowfield. But I was somewhere way down to the south of the Dueling Peaks. I visited it just once while randomly exploring and haven't go back yet. It was almost morning and I didn't had any stable discovered nearby so it died before even getting near one.

Yeah they are near the maze in the very north!
It cannot be put into a stable, I tried but the owner just said he won't take it as it will most likely eat all the other horses.

You can also mount the spirit horse. When it is dark/night, look for a blue shine (often in mountains), there you can find the spirits. You need the upgraded sheika set so your sneakiness is improved

I thought the final bossfight was too easy, which was a shame, Ganon looked terrifying but was too easy.
I had all 4 champions/divine beasts done, hearths I had maybe 22 I think and 1 part from full 3 on stamina rings. So I have not rushed it, I've searched for shrines like hell and now a few places I have left but haven't just found how to open them.

I found all the lost memories and all of the Fairy fountains.

The 3 dragons I can "summon" (Naydra, Dinraal and Farosh) "at will" which is good to know if you want to upgrade yout gear to the max.

I love all the different ways to kill enemies and using own made traps and such.

The snowboarding is quite fun (when holding a shield up, jump and press A (I think it was A) and you'll snowboard on the shield).

Really enjoyed the game, luckily it saved just before the last fight so I can go back to exploring from the moment before I "won" the game. I still haven't cleared the horseback bow challenge so that's one I'm going to want to clear.

Not sure if I have any really super interesting to share which people won't already know...

I've only played a bit of it on my sister's Wii U, and I had an absolute blast. I found this strange little gameplay loop where I would run into a group of Bokoblins (sp? ) wreck one of them with a club, fling the club at the next guy so it breaks, and then pick up the club from the one I just killed to finish off the next enemy, and then repeat.

I found it really exciting to go into a fight and not know what weapon I would finish it with, it felt like something out of the Matrix or a Jackie Chan movie. It's strange but I thought I would hate the degradable equipment but I ended up liking that aspect of it a lot.

Plus the world is just fun to explore, even though I didn't get the hang glider yet, I loved searching for towers off in the distance and then going to climb them, which is something I absolutely deplore doing in Ubisoft sandbox games

in the stable the guy say that it's a monster, and he dont want to keep it or else it could eat the other horses...

i've try to mount a Lynel. it actually work, i got the mount prompt while i was figthing it, but you cant tame it as far as i know.

i realised that there's a cliff up north that is unreachable. you cannot glide to it because of winds, and there's seems to have a way to get to it by following a series of small spires near the maze, but at one point i got the message "you cannot go there" i wonder if the map will expend north for DLC...

Occasionally on Mount Satori in the West there will be a glowing column of light at night. Go there and you'll find The Lord of the Mountain, a strange creature that resembles a blue deer with moth antennae, two faces, and four eyes. You can mount it if you're stealthy and it has the highest stats for any mount in the game. However, it can't be registered and it will vanish.

I've mostly been following the example of other people I've seen around on tumblr and facebook and the like. For example, once I saw someone else do it I used Kinectic Freeze magic on a fallen tree, hit it a few times with a blunt weapon, then got on and rode it through the sky like Mercenary Tao.

Of the things that I did discover on my own though...It took me a while but once I realized the Fireproof in Fireproof Lizard was literal that was a great 'aha!' moment. Other than that I'm probably most proud of this one recipe:

I'm a bit disappointed in myself for being unable to mount/ride the woolly rhinoceros in the north-east mountains though...

Apparently all Amiibo's work on Breath of the Wild. I found this out after I beat the game. Why don't games come with manuals any more. Using other amiibos gets you random food

No, the people are to scared of it to even consider registration. Same with bears/moose/deer/Lord of the Mountain.

Just beat the game myself after about 120 hours of roaming. I could have beaten it way earlier but I was having fun exploring.

It's used for some armor upgrades and it's a crafting ingredient for elixirs.
