Well that was a much more satisfying video than Ryse's was. Yeah I agree the combo weapons seem a little bit weird, and the survivor system needs a little bit of work. The map's a bit weirdly designed too, especially since one bridge literally has a blocked exit meaning that you have to drive down a completely different route. I'm surprised that there was no mention of Nick's little traits like telling himself to calm down after escaping a zombie crowd or randomly spurting out "oh god" when surviving a zombie attack. I didn't really see the car issue, though. Unless you waited that long for the survivors.

The story's a bit stupid but besides the plot twist I don't really see how it's Resident Evil levels of dumb. And I only counted about two people out of the ten or so characters turning evil. Still, zombie killing fun.

Still, at least the 'lack of colour' and 'airstrikes' aren't an issue, especially the last one which they cut out of the game.

True what you said at the beginning, I am surprised so many people rushed out to get the new consoles when there's still very little worth getting on them yet. Still, we need those early buyers to support the market right, so not going to knock them.

I loved that joke about the steamroller motorbike, that made my day.

I'm not sure if I like the prospect of making the item crafting changes he mentioned. While being able to craft on the go may be a welcome addition needing blueprints rather than experimentation takes away the mystery and making it too easy to get the good weapons does suck some of the fun out. I don't have to use them though so I guess it could work if I only used what I could find and craft...

I too sat far away from the next gen consoles, at my PC, wondering what on earth this fuss about "current gen" hardware was, when most of it is just cobbled together laptop parts of days gone by.

But I digress;

If you could actually bludgeon zombies with 2 zombies on a stick, I'd probably buy it right now.

So it features a mechanic that can't figure out how to build things without being told to? Given that they could have made him literally anything else and it would make more sense, why did they go that route?

I think the mechanic part is just to justify that he's your average Joe and the vehicle combos. But I think the gameplay mechanic was there to make things simpler seeing as you don't often spend much time in one place.

This is what confuses me...The main character can craft things on the spot because he's a 'mechanic', but he can't do fuck all unless he has the Argos instruction manual. That surely is a position of pure juxtapose, is it not?
Anyhow, you have reminded me that i have dead rising 2 and case west on my hard drive to complete still because every time i play it, i forget it doesn't bloody well auto save and just rage quite each time i get into an inescapable boss fight.
Sorta like dark souls i guess.
Wait. That's on my hard drive too!!
Screw the next generation, i got turd loads of stuff yet to do!

You know Yahtzee, with the XBox One you could plug the console you had to remove from your TV in through it's pass through HDMI port. Or you could do it with you cable box, 360, PS3 or whatever else you have lying around. =)

Thanks for ripping this piece of shit a new one
I'm not usually petty about things like this but when I am I get extremely petty.

Last gen Dead Rising 1, Case Zero, 2 Case West and Off the Record amounted to my favorite series. Mostly because Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 ended up shitting themselves half to death and expected me to clean up the mess.

Now I'm at least glad that Dead Rising managed to escape the generation barrier unscathed. But seriously how do they take a series that up to now could be described by the words "fun, vibrant and challenging" and decide that "monotonous, bland and piss easy" was a good direction for the series?

Aw, you've pre-empted a badly thought out attempt at satire I was working on...

We were talking in the Injustice League chat, as we do, the other day and he's baffled by how the rest of us are sick of zombies in popular media.

But yes! For once I am the ninja :D

Edit: Also we discussed dominating The Escapist. As is mandated by the creed. > >

I know I said last week, the more I hear about the xbox one the less I want it but over the weekend my mood changed. I did more research as to was the system could do over the ps4, and mostly I couldn't think of anything else to ask for Christmas this year so yeah call me indecisive.

FYI, there is a nightmare mode that makes the game harder. But form what I've seen the game looks like the dead rising I've been waiting for since it looks more streamlined.

Online dating? But Yahtzee can't get a girlfriend; how will he provide us with our weekly stream of pent up bile if he's...you know...happy? Mind you, online dating does have a kind of Russian roulette feel to it so who knows, maybe this could unlock a kind of cynicism the like of which this world has never known. I wouldn't like to speculate on what will happen to the dick jokes if he's getting any though. Oh, and the review was pretty good...I haven't played the game but it sounds like I'm better off sticking to DR2.

Boulder punching is a pretty solid draw, mind. It's just not enough to carry a game on its own.

Or the market could start providing reasons to buy in, rather than begging us for support or else it'll unlike us on Facebook.

I like zombies....:(

Not enough to buy this game, and especially not enough to buy an Xbone for it, but still.

With all the Aliens avatars on here right now, I have this urge to bludgeon zombies with a pair of A:CM discs on a stick. EPIC WIN!

Bah. Mechanics can't figure things out! Especially nothing so complicated as "duct tape these two things together!"

Doesn't that harm the signal quality AND require the bone to be on?

They're trying to create a shambling legion of games featuring shambling legions of monsters. It's sort of like zombieception, only the ending makes less sense because it's Capcom.

I don't know. Five minutes with the Xbone seems to be enough to last a week.

I can't help but feel like a larger, more polished and multiplayer-supported State of Decay would trounce Dead Rising. Even with the game we do have, it still feels like a better zombie game that's doing really well and not being talked about much.

Nah, I won't be sick of them until someone finally produces the dream zombie survival-'em-up sandbox game that everyone's always wanted. We keep getting real close (DayZ and a few other indie titles), but never quite get there.

I don't want a story or even multiplayer. I just want to survive in a zombie apocalypse for as long as I can in an FPS game.
