A friend of mine came up with this random but good question; who is the better soundtrack composer, Hanz Zimmer or Harry Gregson-Williams? It was a tough one for me because although Zimmer has more films/games/TV soundtracks under his belt, I think Gregson-Williams has scored better music. That's just my opinion obviously, but what do you guys think?

Never even heard of Gregson-Williams, easily Zimmer. Zimmer isn't my favourite, but out of these two it's a no-brainer.

Interesting fact: Harry Gregson Williams is a former student of Hans Zimmer, who taught him, as well as several other notable people in film composing (John Powell, Steve Jablonsky). I don't really hold either in higher esteem over the other overall, but each does certain things better than the other. I like Gregson-Williams' work on action-music better than Hans for example, but Hans seems to do more moving emotional pieces.

Gregson-Williams, mainly because this,

is one of my favourite pieces of music of all time, and I love a lot of the work he's done with Metal Gear Solid.

However, that's not to say I don't love me some Zimmer as well
