There was some loud yelling going in at Kaufman's end after he heard the news. He quickly got back onto the line, "Bailey, we will send our counter-attack force over to wherever it needs to be if it means we get back Alan and defeat that monster. And when you get back I expect some answers on what has been going on! Alright, where do you need the men sent?"

"Tell him the Darkmin Boardwalk," Jacobs told Christie, "That's where we're going to set it up."

Christie nodded to Jacobs.
"Yes sir. Please send the force to Darkmin Boardwalk. We're going to send it over to that area and then we're going after Bixler. Thank you very much sir and we'll return to base as soon as we apprehend him." She finished, hanging up and letting out a deep breath.
"Well. That went better than i imagined." She muttered before putting the phone back in it's holder.

"I'm still kinda scared about when we head back," Jacobs said as they continued down the highway, dodging wrecks and the monster.

After around thirty minutes Dewey took the off ramp to the boardwalk where there were already a small force there, finishing up the prep work.
"Howdy guys! See y'all later!" Dewey said as he drove by them all.
"It's right behind us, so be careful!" Jacobs said, the men nodding and finished putting the frozen corpses in front of the ramp to the boardwalk. The monster followed down the ramp, picking up the bodies before roaring in something that seemed to mean it was in pain.
"FIRE!" yelled one of the men and they barraged it with cryo fire.

Lisa turned her head and looked out of the window, watching the military take on the monster. They had the upper hand.
"Hey," Christie suddenly said to get Lisa's attention, "Alright, now that is taken care of, Where is Alan?"
"The high school."
"What? Are you kidding me? Why would Jack take him there? Tell us the truth."
"A. This is a logical guess. B. If you remember, he left his equipment there and it's a place that Jack knows well. C. Do you have any better ideas?" Lisa replied firmly.

Christie thought for a moment. Then gave Dewey the directions. The trip was only 20 minutes or so from the boardwalk, so it was no real problem if the guess turned out wrong.

Jack was driving back to the HQ as he got an idea that might just kill two birds with one stone. He turned the car and started to head back towards the military base he had snuck Alan out of. As the car headed back to the base as everyone was still disoriented and confused Jack thought 'I think it's time I met this General Kaufman'. Luckily the base was close enough that the drive took about ten minutes on the nearly deserted roads. Jack snuck back onto the base and into the room he had been given. He changed into civilian clothes and made his way to the General's office. The secretary looked up and asked him what he wanted, he replied.

"I need to see the General, I have information regarding Julia Bixler's notes that I think he would find very interesting." The secretary told him to wait a second and then told him the general would be there in ten minutes after having spoken into the phone in hushed tones for around five minutes.

"Sly High? Oh I know where that is! That's where I went," Jacobs said cheerfully as they continued down the road.

After twenty or so minutes they managed to not die and got to the school. It was still in good shape, with more barricades having been put up. Dewey said he'd wait in the car while Jacobs got out and reminisced.
"Boy I remember this place. Fun times here. I remember one time, for Halloween, I had dressed up as Superman! So, I put on his theme music and ripped off my shirt and ran around school saving people. That was great..."

Kaufman groaned, having just heard someone was there to see him back in his office. He had not time for stuff like this. 'I'll put it off for now. I need to concentrate on the men over at Darkmin,' he thought, giving orders with each update he'd receive.

Lisa couldn't help but laugh at the private's memories.
"I see. Anyway, My bets are on him being on the third floor, another $10 on him being in the chem lab. I'm going to the nurse's room to grab some aspirin and i'll meet you upstairs." She explained, starting off towards the doors.

Christie raised an eyebrow but remembered all of the medication she'd inspected before leaving alongside that Lisa suffered from headaches and saw that it was probably true. She let Jacobs look around the building some more before they both followed Lisa. They separated on the first floor, Lisa going down the hall with the two military personnel going upstairs.
"You're actually Alumni then, Private?"

Jack asked the secretary to inform the general that this information would make the specific capture of Alan Bixler entirely unnecessary. He understood the general was a busy man, but this needed to be done before he was found out.

She got back on the phone to relay the information.

"Yes. I was quite surprised when I found out we were heading here," Jacobs said, looking around and saying hello to a few students that walked by, "Funny that it's a safe haven now. We might just have to bring these people over to the base, or have this a mini-base. It's funny that I'm back. I was originally planning on becoming a teacher and teaching here, but of course things happen and I went into the army instead. Ah, I should see how much money I have in case your sister is correct."

"Fine I'll fucking get over there! Major you command while I'm away, Captain come with me," Kaufman said as he and Conroy made their way over to the office. Kaufman walked inside and sat down, with Conroy looking at Jack for a moment before walking over to the General and whispering.
"Really? Well, quite brave of you Lieutenant Fletcher to find your way back over here after stealing someone important to me," Kaufman said, with Conroy pointing a gun at Jack, "Now, he won't fire unless he believes either of us are in danger, so don't try anything please. We can keep this civil, yes?"

"She probably is right, the chem lab was serving as a little recreation room for him and his group before I left here...You know, You would have made a good teacher. You have the right attitude for it." Christie replied thoughtfully as they reached the second floor.

Lisa ran a hand through her hair, worried about whether or not he was still there. She'd get some extra strong medication and somehow sedate them...or something along those lines. It would've been easier to think if her head stopped thumping. She reached the nurse's office that she'd come accustomed to a little while ago, pushing the opaque door open. What she saw was unexpected. She cupped a hand to her mouth, closing the door behind her and approaching the bed.
"Alan..."

"Please, I believe I can come to a deal we both find mutually beneficial. I said I can make Alan a superfluous player as anything more than a blood bank and I intend to deliver. Consider this first of three pieces of information a freebie, Julia Bixler's notebook is useless, it will contain nothing useful to you about the virus. Now I know what will, who has it, and how to access this information and I will give it to you on four simple stipulations. You see I took him to interrogate him on something you knew nothing about, a coded note from Julia Bixler to Alan Bixler. Please though, call me Jack, now will you hear what my stipulations are or should I turn around and leave now?" Jack said calmly sitting in a nearby chair and crossing his legs.

"Really? You think? People said that I wasn't as 'academically capable' as most people. But I know I would have been great. I was always fond of History, that's what I wanted to teach. I always found it to be the most interesting," he said as he opened the Chemistry room door to find nothing inside, "Huh. Wait does this mean I get the ten bucks?"

Alan opened his eyes when he heard his name, blinking a few times and looking around the room. "Where am I? Gah what happened?" he asked, holding his head. He could tell he was still feeling a bit woozy from the sedative. He turned to the door, "Lisa?"

"Turn and leave now," Kaufman replied simply, looking up at the office's clock, "Look Jack. Alan is a bit more important to me than just a 'blood donor', and Conroy you better not tell anyone that. Now, let me say this, we're already working on getting all of the data from dear Julia. The interesting tidbits that we found through our ambush has made me take actions to get the notes and that laptop that she always carried around. We're currently working on getting them now. Also, knowing Alan, he probably didn't give you all the information. He's a smart kid, and probably told you a lie somewhere."

A smile spread across her lips and relief hit her hard. For a few seconds, she could've sworn he looked dead.
"Thank god." She muttered before moving much more quickly to the bed and giving him a quick hug.
The smile began to fade as she noticed how bruised and beaten he was.
"Oh damn...what happened to you? Did Jack do all of this?" A noticeable amount of worry in her voice.

"I think so. Try the other rooms. She said third floor. If not we go and get her and search every room here." Christie replied, her tone now serious, leaving the chem lab and throwing open the door across the hall.

"A bit of it," he said angrily, now remembering exactly what happened. "Where is everyone? I need to get back to the base! However I can't walk so if you have a ride I'd much appreciate it," he said, completely distracted with the thoughts that were flowing into his head, "Also be careful around the ribs, I'm pretty sure a few were broken if I remember correctly."

"Alright ma'am," Jacobs said, running towards the next room and checking it, "I'll make my way around here, and you can check down the opposite way."

"Alright General, I'm sorry we could not come to a more amicable agreement. Though I will say this, considering that Alan was found in a hysterical and near death state at the hands of your men, I was able to outsmart all of them with a fake record and a badge, and I have a plan to get you that laptop with zero liability on your part. I think we could have had a very good relationship. Did you know that I was the one who had the plan to use those choppers to defeat that fire spewing beast, and I have an ingenious plan to defeat that quicksand beast running around out there now, I think I could save lives? By the way, the beast breathes acid, not smoke. You need a highly basic chemical like lye to defeat it, water will fuck with its skin, but nothing more." Jack said as he got up.

"You forget that it internally has a hot core that we are currently freezing to defeat it, and it's going quite well," Kaufman replied with a yawn. "Though I am sad about what happened to my nephew, I've done all that I could to reprimand my men. And, when we find Alan I will ask for his forgiveness for my men not doing what they were told to do and put him in his nice little cell until I could have a talk with him. If this is all then I'd best get back to checking up on the fight. And I don't particularly think you'll like the 'complete' plan that I have in mind so I will not bother to even tell you about why our 'relationship' would not work. Now excuse me Jack, but I must be off. Captain Conroy here and a few of my men outside will escort you to your prison cell. Have a nice day."

"Fuck." She said in response to many different things, grabbing the medication she'd came to get and stuffing it in her pocket. "Alright, Adries and your uncle are back near the base, they're safe though. Christie is upstairs looking for you. There is a jeep outside, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to get it without some kind of violent persuasion. I'll explain everything else soon, we need to get out of here first."

Christie ran to check more classrooms, finding each empty.
"Any luck?!" She yelled to Jacobs at the end of the corridor, moving towards the door to the stairwell.

"No!" Jacobs yelled back, finishing up checking the last doors over on his side, "I'm done here. Second floor time?"

"Fuck is correct. Alright do you think you can help me to the jeep or any car for that matter? I need to get back to that base. Fuck! Sorry I'm a little pissed off right now, but these past few days haven't really been that great to me," Alan told her, sitting up as best he could.

"General, that plan will not work and your men will die, when they do, I'd appreciate you coming to me. These beasts regenerate, so freezing will work if you can flash freeze it, but not in small increments. Loading a helicopter with lye and dumping it down its throat will basically be like throwing off the Ph in human blood. When you do that, all the regenerative abilities in the world won't save it. They regenerate externally, not internally so fight from the inside out, not the outside in. Good day to you sir, and let me say I hope you do do better in the future, Alan is far too valuable to die because your men were on too short a leash. That's why I left him with people who I know will defend him with their lives as well as costing me my own if need be. Do leave him with them, I know family connections and all, but a group of strangers who care about one another is stronger than one man trying to protect someone when surrounded by enemies." Jack said as he calmly left the room.

'I may be in a cell, but I know it shan't be long until his plan fails miserably.'

"Right!" Christie replied, running down the flight of stairs with Jacobs in tow, doing the same as they did before.

Lisa gave a understanding nod saying that it was okay, whilst trying to figure out some way of getting him outside. She pushed the bed over to the door. Then turning around and opening the window.
"Wait here. I'm going to get the jeep. Lock the door after I leave and don't open it again. I'll climb through the window and get you."
