No no no no no. This is not the sort of information I wanted in my brain. Glaze for pastries? No!I learned one today for you:
Lant is an Old English word meaning "aged urine". Why is there a specific word for aged urine? Because it has a dozen and one uses! It was used to freshen breath, flavour ale, and it could be rendered down to be used as a glaze on hard pastries. I think its a triumph of humanity that we can so effectively use our own pee.
Also, flavouring ale. I guess I know where the phrase "getting pissed" comes from now.No no no no no. This is not the sort of information I wanted in my brain. Glaze for pastries? No!
