Today, Super Mario Kart, and the Mario Kart series as a whole, turn 30 years old.

What's your favorite game in the series? What are your favorite memories of the series?

My dirty secret is that I've never really gotten into Mario Kart. I played the SNES version, Mario Kart 64, the DS game, and that's it. In the 64 era, I played far more of Diddy Kong Racing. But I guess if we're talking about favourite games, the 64 one wins by default.

Possibly the one on the N64, my friends and me would spend hours playing the battle mode on that. That may be the last good one before the ridiculous rubber banding ruined the series.

The N64 version was my first Mario Kart. I played Double Dash and not much else afterward.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I played a lot of the SNES one and of Mario Kart 8 on the Wiiu. I think I liked 8 more, but both were fun.

Played the hell out of the original and a decent amount of the N64 one. One of the best games on each system, but the latter was a notable improvement in no small part thanks to the awesome jumps.

64 or Double Dash for me. Outside of those the series didn't really do it for me as much. The DS one was fun enough.
For some reason though, I never felt like the later games were all that fun or interesting. Whenever it was suggested I play MK8 with folk I'd just feel meh about it.

Diddy Kong Racing, however... way more exciting
