For the last three years or so, Seattle has been suffering from smoke in the air. These smokes come from various locations; Sometimes it' comes down from Canada, and other times it comes up all the way from CA.

This year, it comes from east, where several forest fires is causling western part of of the Seattle to be smoky.

It really sucks, because the air smells and feels bad, I can't take my dog out for a walk, and tiny ash fragments cakes my car. The only time when the air feels good enough are early mornings and late evenings, and even then I can smell the hint of smoke.

Thankfully it's supposed to rain for the next few days, so I hope the air will clear up agian. But I feel like it's gonna get worse every year

I'm near Portland and it's pretty bad down here too. There's a fire blowing from the NE of us pretty close, and apparently it's because some jackass was using pyrotechnics during a hot, dry spell. A couple years ago a couple idiot kids set half the Columbia River Gorge on fire because they were playing with fireworks in the woods. People gripe about firework bans around here but this is why because there always seems to be one fucking moron who set half the state on fire because "FIREWORK PRETTY!"

I was hoping to do some stuff outside before the rain started but fucking smoke makes it a bad idea.

Last year I was planning a day in the mountain and then day of it was so smoky I could barely see my outstretch arm.

Anyway, its not going to get better for a very long time (and then only because there won't be much to burn anymore) so, you know get used to it.

I know you've probably heard this, but get a box fan and an air filter, and tape the air filter to the backside of the box fan.

It's not as good as a dedicated air filtration machine, but it'll help out immensely. Just make sure you have the airflow going in the right direction, air filter can apparently be put in backwards.

For better results, put together something like this to decrease the extra load on the fan
I've also seen versions that use filters lining a milk crate that have the same effect

I would recommend doing what Asian countries do, and wearing a mask when outdoors.
