Several Rs voted in favor. Notably Manchin voted against. Cruz and Hawley are to the left of Manchin.
Push may be coming to shove soon as the Senate rejects the "sick time" amendment. I have not seen yet at least if the Senate approved the unamended bill to force the workers to accept the initial deal.
Didn't he already say "I'm pro-worker, but we must subdue the unruly peasants for the prosperity of the nation" or words to that effect in regards to this?and the update
So now to see how Pro-Worker Biden, who has said he would sign this to force the workers to not be allowed to strike, truly is
I'm gonna go ahead and guess Biden is gonna say "Fuck them workers" but I guess he could still surprise me
Yes, he's already said he's Pro-Union but fuck these people because it would hurt the economy too much (since as we all know, the most effective strikes are the ones that don't inconvenience people)Didn't he already say "I'm pro-worker, but we must subdue the unruly peasants for the prosperity of the nation" or words to that effect in regards to this?
Do you not actually see the roadblocks between "Biden demands Congress give workers all their demands" and "the workers get all their demands met"? Big hint, it starts with a capital C.
Once again,Do you not actually see the roadblocks between "Biden demands Congress give workers all their demands" and "the workers get all their demands met"? Big hint, it starts with a capital C.
If Biden was really a "pro-labor president", then the way he would square the demands of workers with the unacceptability of a strike is by demanding Congress legislate that railway companies capitulate to every worker demand on pain of nationalization if the railway companies don't comply.
he would square the demands of workers with the unacceptability of a strike is by demanding Congress legislate
If Congress refused to legislate in such a manner, then counterfactual pro-labor Joe Biden would simply let the strike proceed until they did. Because doing anything else is not pro-labor.is by demanding Congress legislate
Fun fact: strikes can end without the laborers getting every demand. If Congress refused to legislate in such a manner, then counterfactual pro-labor Joe Biden would simply let the strike proceed until they did.
Out of curiousity, are you trying to defend Biden here? Ok, in my timezone it's a friday, but I didn't know we were doing a freaky friday thing were people swap roles.Fun fact: strikes can end without the laborers getting every demand.
Not specifically defend Biden, though I certainly have less objection here than a communist does. I'm more intrigued by the level of delusion it takes to think "if Biden was pro-labor, the workers would get anything they wanted and there's no other possible end state."Out of curiousity, are you trying to defend Biden here? Ok, in my timezone it's a friday, but I didn't know we were doing a freaky friday thing were people swap roles.
Have you not fucking seen things getting branded as conspiracy theories and people being banned from speaking about them on several major platforms (Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, etc.) and then finding out those conspiracy theories are actually true 6 months or so later? You are still literally not allowed to say vaccines don't stop covid transmission when there's not a single study that says they do. Who do you think is coercing big tech to do this? Maybe the party that put together a Disinformation Governance Board...What the entire fuck are you complaining about? The "far left" in the USA doesn't have the power to organize a boycott of Chik Fil A let alone anything of actual value. The closest thing to "far left" we have in government is quibbling over giving rail workers a whole 7 sick days. It's pathetic.
You actually think some militia of citizens can overthrow the government? The US military that we spend more money on than like the next 7 countries combined can't stop a militia group?Easily, watch. The far left is not insane, factually.
And no. Violence is the major threat to democracy. Whatever conspiracies you have about the "far left" being against free speech and stopping people from having an opinion are just that - conspiracies.
Meanwhile the far right is actually happening.
Its the difference between wildfires being caused by Jewish space lasers, and the founder of the Oath Keepers being found guiltily of sedition. One is real, the other is a Fox News talking point to get old people to panic buy survival seeds and donate to Ted Cruz.
Oh no, they might trick people into getting vaccinated against a debilitating and deadly disease, that's just like calling for armed insurrections.Have you not fucking seen things getting branded as conspiracy theories and people being banned from speaking about them on several major platforms (Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, etc.) and then finding out those conspiracy theories are actually true 6 months or so later? You are still literally not allowed to say vaccines don't stop covid transmission when there's not a single study that says they do. Who do you think is coercing big tech to do this? Maybe the party that put together a Disinformation Governance Board...
not particularly relevantFun fact: strikes can end without the laborers getting every demand.
How does it fail if the senate majority vote yes?
Push may be coming to shove soon as the Senate rejects the "sick time" amendment. I have not seen yet at least if the Senate approved the unamended bill to force the workers to accept the initial deal.
filibuster... which is based on the cloture rule which the Senate voluntarily imposes on itself (meaning it would only take a majority to abolish the filibuster if a majority of the Senate wanted to).How does it fail if the senate majority vote yes?
They're one of two capitalist political parties and they prioritized crushing the strike. Why did they suddenly change their MO here?
