You interested in Dragon's Dogma II then?
Interested, sure, if for no other reason than as an observer.
I tried to play the first one a few times and could not get into it. There is so much of that fantasy RGP walking back and forth through boring areas, and the actual action mechanics weren't interesting enough to make it worth it. Then in my last attempt a few months ago I ran into that thing that I've lost patience for with these games- the menus, inventory, etc. Yes I do think the whole thing with the buddies you can make and take along is interesting, and the whole thing were you can climb a boss is a nice element. But the jank and annoyances were too much for me.
So for the sequel, I'll be following its reception with interest. I hope it's great and I know Capcom has been hitting out of the park lately. Whether or not I'll play it, it depends. I'm less interested in the whole build variety/replayability aspect that attracts many to the genre and more interested in the story and action mechanics.
One of the criticism I've seen of the first DD even from fans is uninteresting quest design and uninteresting levels/areas, and these are the things that attract me to these games. So IF they manage to cool areas and beasties and IF they have some good quest design and IF it's relatively accessible to get into then yeah I'll play it. In theory, a combo of Monster Hunter and D&D is great but it also leaves possibility for a lot of frustration.
