I was interested until it looked like Sekiro and focused on fucking parries AGAIN! They just did that shit in Wu Long and I hated it. So I guess this is a skip for me. I'm sure it's gonna be a fantastic game if you can get into the combat, but not for me.
Considering this title is open world, Team Ninja might go easy on the parry timing this time. Tsushima has some strict parrying, mainly on tough side bosses, but it didn't ruin the whole experience. I get it though, different styles of games.

Interesting trivia everyone, apparently a lot of the DOA people left to work on Tekken 8. So DOA is officially dead at this point.

Looks interesting. The Meji era is always a fun setting for a game.

Something about it just…oh this is made by Team Ninja. That’s why it doesn’t seem to look or play quite as smoothly as I’d imagined it would. For some crazy reason I thought this was going to be SP’s sorta-sequel to GoT.

Gotta be honest. I don't think I ever parried in Ghosts. I dont mind when parrying is part of the combat, like in Souls games. But when Parrying is like the primary mode of defense and the game is balanced around it, then I have problems. Sekiro, Lies of P, Wu Long all were way too parry driven for me.

Spider-Man 2 got pretty parry driven with its combat from what I heard and seen. Now granted, that game gives you more obvious hints on what the dodge and what to parry. Ragnarok, wow still definitely easier than these other titles, still have a parry or die type situation for certain sub bosses or side bosses.

I'd still say games like Metal Gear Rising and DMC3-5's royal guard do it the best. Bayonetta as well, if you got the Moon accessory equipped. Though that franchise is more dodge based, unless you're playing as Viola in 3. Then she gets two types of parties!

@Old_Hunter_77! Are you ready, for Rise of The Ronin?!

Hahah... nope. It looks like Wo Long, which I hated. Look at all those right-angles in the movements, look at those red dots telling you when to parry which, given the studio, you can't actually trust. No I'm done with these kick-you-in-the-ass awkard fighting games. I know I started this thread and was hyped 'cause I love ninja samurai 3rd person melee but the more I see of this game the less I'm interested. So it goes.

You interested in Dragon's Dogma II then?

Interested, sure, if for no other reason than as an observer.

I tried to play the first one a few times and could not get into it. There is so much of that fantasy RGP walking back and forth through boring areas, and the actual action mechanics weren't interesting enough to make it worth it. Then in my last attempt a few months ago I ran into that thing that I've lost patience for with these games- the menus, inventory, etc. Yes I do think the whole thing with the buddies you can make and take along is interesting, and the whole thing were you can climb a boss is a nice element. But the jank and annoyances were too much for me.

So for the sequel, I'll be following its reception with interest. I hope it's great and I know Capcom has been hitting out of the park lately. Whether or not I'll play it, it depends. I'm less interested in the whole build variety/replayability aspect that attracts many to the genre and more interested in the story and action mechanics.

One of the criticism I've seen of the first DD even from fans is uninteresting quest design and uninteresting levels/areas, and these are the things that attract me to these games. So IF they manage to cool areas and beasties and IF they have some good quest design and IF it's relatively accessible to get into then yeah I'll play it. In theory, a combo of Monster Hunter and D&D is great but it also leaves possibility for a lot of frustration.

You are correct. Hideaki Itsuno said he's fixing that and not making the same mistake again.

It's got plenty of either improved or new action mechanics they're focusing on. This is Itsuno's baby, so I know he's got this. For the record, this is the same guy that did DMC3-DMC5. Now Dragon's Dogma's combat is a bit more grounded, but from what I've seen from the sequel so far, it is much more faster paced, but not to the over-the-top level of the DMC franchise.

Game looks to be about what I expected, with the exception of it being more Ghosts of Tsushima and less Elden Ring. But also done poorly.

I honestly didn't expect it to have such a big narrative component which Team Ninja has never been great with. I was already going to skip this because I didn't like the gameplay I saw of it and it generally just looked flat and unexcited from both a story and gameplay aspect.

Maybe the final game will be better.

I was just listening to it in the background, but the gameplay itself that I saw in SkillUp's video was quite discouraging. The ranged weapon gameplay looks like it's from the PS2 era.

Interesting that it seems they simplified the Nioh/Wo-Long combat which makes sense if they're trying to appeal to a wider audience but as someone who couldn't jive with that combat, I didn't want them to simplify it I just wanted it to be better.
Well I was only interested in it if the combat was smoothed out and the world interesting but if both are no then we move on...

I can ignore the haters Fextra, but I'm not picking up this game right now. I'm in the middle of two other games, and I got an update for a game I bought last year coming out within 2 weeks.

Thank you daddy Luke for telling me what to think
Not the best lesson to learn when looking for an opinion.

On the whole graphics thing. This is what I warned about back when the price hike happened. To me though, no matter how great any of these games looks, they're not worth the price tag. The fact that this game loos sub-par/average and is at $70, is not helping the Ronin's case. I know the gameplay is awesome, but there's a reason why I go for cheaper games, but the ones I gravitate don't rely on realism or have a unique art style. Hi-Fi Rush is at $40 at launch ($30 at standard edition), and will age gracefully in looks and replayability.
