Now that it's way too late to enter the race and presumably going as an independent candidate, Kanye has announced his presidential bid, immediately gaining the support of Elon Musk.

On the one hand, I presume this is a joke. On the other, that's about what people were saying about Trump and here we are now. Of course, I believe it's too late for him to be on the ballot in several states, so it doesn't much matter if he's serious or not.

But I hope he is, because I want more entertainment out of what is a very boring presidential race.

Ah the ole "god" route of trying to gain trust by doing fuck all to earn it. Classic. I assume this is all about him not wanting to pay taxes, so just replace "god" with "tax cuts for the rich" and his rhetoric should start making more sense. Hopefully all he'll do is siphon off the religious crazies' vote from trump, as long as their racism isn't too deeply ingrained.

So how big are the chances this will stack the deck against Biden? Because if this goes wrong then Biden will have to content not only with the electoral college and the voter suppression Trump will inevitably employ, but also his own votes getting split.

I never had much hope for Trump to get defeated and if Kanye turns into a worst case scenarios that could end up being one of the reasons how Trump will do it.

Finally the West Wing name will be proper for the first time.

I want to say this is a fever dream but this legit and I just feel empty. I want to enjoy the jokes and the memes cause as fan of Kanye for a while I can make plenty but I don't want that to bite me in the ass.

It's not a surprise they have a mutual admiration. They are very similar people, personality-wise.

The world and the US don't need another b(i)tch-in-a-boxstand that can't shut the fuck up for 5 minutes. Let alone, one that is an Uncle Ruckus. Kanye, sit your ass down and shut up. Rarely anyone cares about you anymore.

I'm curious as to how this will affect the polls, Biden is banking on black votes, and with West entering the race there is a chance of those votes being split.

Maybe he's trying to split the vote, or maybe he's got an album coming up and has gotten bored of having a go at Taylor Swift for attention.

Probably the latter.

I mean, he might be trying to split the vote but I don't see him getting much as a write in. Hell, the Green and Libertarian parties combined got about 4% of the vote in 2016. There's also the question of "Okay, who is he meant to appeal to again?" Voters who don't want to vote for trump or biden but man, Kayne is who they want? Rich egotists? Somebody who thinks the existing third party candidates are too mainstream for them? Black voters who dislike biden but don't want to vote for trump and none of the other parties appeal to them so why not biden but oh, Kayne?

I don't think we should disparage star-power, West is famous and that tends to draw people in. And, though I fear it is a racist notion, I think there is a good chance that black voters will vote for him, if for no other reason than him being black.

Biden primarily draws in black conservatives, who definitely would not approve of Kanye's lifestyle or shenanigans. He does have this weird evangelist thing going on since Jesus is Lord, but that would technically take votes away from Trump in equal measure. In reality neither Biden, nor Trump, nor Kanye are gonna get the disenfranchised working black class vote, and between the recent BLM stuff, Biden is more likely to get votes even in that demographic. It's important to remember that class antagonisms persist in intra-racial politics, and Kanye's right-wing bootstrap rhetoric in his glammed up music and expensive clothes would at most appeal to the black middle classes, but he's been getting chewed out for his comments regarding slavery (which realistically would mean that he'd get support from black Republicans) and because he's openly getting religious to start dodging taxes.

It's possible it's that kind of diversion but y'all got to remember he's got an album coming out and he likes to stir this kind of shit up every time there's a new release on the horizon. It generates hype and attention for his music and for his fashion line, which only hypebeasts really care about.
