Mayor Ted showed up to the protest, got heckled, organizers (based on colors maybe YLF?) projected demands that included he resign over his head, people screamed about how he was the one messing them up until a couple weeks ago, he said he’d hold the line, people got gassed, he fled, then his cops said they’d gas everyone. Most Americans have lived through dramatically worse periods in terms of crime rates than this. The point is to break the protests and riots. Now, don’t separate this from how bad things are going to get once evictions start hitting and unemployment runs out. These failures of policy were intentionally put forward by Trump as he believed a lower unemployment rate, which is based on the number of people collecting unemployment, would mean people would believe he has already created an economic recovery. It’s the same reason he’s pushing to reopen schools, all to win an election that personally I would otherwise consider trivial due to the mutual failings of both candidates.
This dumb shit is all being done to win one presidential election. Millions will suffer, thousands will be jailed for years, our civil liberties will be further trampled on, all so this guy has a chance to stay president. It’s despicable.
