So Herman Cain, former republican presidential candidate who refused to wear a mask has now died at age 74 due to covid-19. He was diagnosed june 29, 9 days after attending a trump rally in Oklahoma where he and a bunch of other idiots refused to wear a mask.

I've long felt that the idea of "I'm going to do the opposite of what an authority figure I hate says" is one of the most infuriating childish attitudes that somehow remains in adults.

I can think of dozens of political leaders I utterly loathe from all over the world. But if Mohammed bin Salman comes out in favor of hand washing and social distancing, I'm not going to come out and say "wait now, are you sure about that?"

I am sure that stating "I won't wear a mask because I'm an American, damnit! I don't care what science says!" is a dumb decision and many people have paid the ultimate price for this hubris.
They should serve as a cautionary tale. Not to deride the dead, but to warn the living that the same fate may befall them.

I thank heaven every day that my family is taking this seriously. I cannot lose another family member this year.

Every time someone dies from COVID 19 because other people refused to wear masks and social distance it's a tragedy. Every time someone dies because THEY refused to wear masks and social distance I can't help but feel a sense of schadenfreude.
