Microsoft/Xbox Controllers having drift issues with left joystick?

Sort of just a random thought from another thread about console controls but, is it just my bad luck buying controllers, but does anyone else have a recurring problem where the Zero State for the left joystick (and thus the movement controls) very quickly seem to veer out of alignment? Where even without actually touching the stick, it will sometimes take a direction input (usually left in my experience), and thus seriously fuck up fine controls while playing? It seems to be exclusive to Xbox/microsoft controllers, as I've never had it happen with my PS4 ones.

Anyone else have this issue? And it starts like maybe a month after I buy a new controller.

First off, which Xbox Controllers have you been using?

Are we talking 360 or Xbox One controllers? I'm assuming Xbox One since you're comparing to the DS4.

Anyway, I have three 360 controllers and two of those have drift in the left stick, while one of them also has it in the right stick (and a left bumper button that poorly registers presses). They lasted much longer than just a single month before any problems popped up tho. Still better than my DS3's tho, which all have some kind of wonky stick and/or button. On the other hand, my DS4 is still working like a charm after 4 years or regular use.

Don't have experience with Xbox One controller, so can't help you there.

No clue really. It's just, if/when I find a game that I'm playing on PC, that suggests a controller, I'll go grab one from the local walmart or game stop. And the controller will have about a month or two shelf life before I start noticing the drift effect. The one I have simply says it's an xbox 360 controller, with a microsoft branding on it. If you're asking me if it's a Retro Pro 3000 GT Ultra. No clue. It's whatever is the cheapest one they have on display when I find myself in need of one.

I'm comparing it to the PS 4 simply because that's the system I currently use. Though I also never recall having the issue with my PS 3 controllers either. None of my Playstation controllers have ever shown this problem. It seems to be exclusive to xbox/microsoft related controllers.

I know 360 controllers have issues with the left stick if you're playing a game with a lot of quick time events and button pressing. Were you playing a game that had you...

I know there was one guy that had a problem with his left and right stick on his Xbox one controller, but he had the habit of not cleaning his controllers at all or rarely ever.

Take 'em apart and give 'em a good clean! Might help anyway. My ps4 one started drifting slightly since yesterday, so that will be the first action I shall attempt.

I think more than one of our 360 controllers started to have issues registering the up direction. No such problems have occurred on my XBO controller though, and I haven't really treated that any more gently. My brother's DS4 hasn't developed any drift either, but the rubber caps on the sticks have disintegrated.

I’ve actually had that happen with a DualShock 4 on the right stick once. Noticed it when playing Mad Max the camera would drift. Tried to recalibrate it but it eventually happened again. Reminded me of when using a DS2 on PC and the stick being off kilter when plugging it in and it drifted erroneously.

Can't say I had significant issues with stick drift.

I think I've owned 6 Xbox 360 controllers, and 1 xbox one controller, and of them 1 of the xbox 360 controllers developed stick drift, but it was after like 9 months of use. The rest never had much issue. Actually, one had the opposite problem where the dead-zone on the stick was a little too big.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I've never had that issue in game, but I do have it with my steam link when I'm trying to chat with the controller. I'll get the pointer drifting down, doesn't happen in any game or anything like that, just in the chat menu for steam. It's very strange, might have something to do with the dead zone, probably a way to set it or something.
