So fuck 2020 even more:

He was seen as gaunt a few months ago. People thought it was a new diet for a new role. Turns out it was chemotherapy and not being able to eat.

Its been confirmed that 43 year old actor Chadwickk Boseman sadly passed away after a four year battle with Colon Cancer.

In 2016 he was diagnosed with a stage three form of it, and by the time of his death had moved up to stage 4.

While I did not see alot of his films, he had a habit of portraying legendary figures such as Jackie Robinson in 42, the namesake of Marshall, and James Brown in Get up.

Most famously, he played Tachalla, the titular Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinamatic Universe.

He was trooper. My father died of a different kind of cancer, and while chemo treatments and surgeries have improved since his last prosedre, I can't help but think of the willpower he had to do these films between chemo and other treatments.

Other things to skim Wikipedia for things to praise him for:

Wrote a play when he was a junior in highschool and would write more in his adult life. Was a dramma instructor, He apeared on several TV shows like Law and Order and ER before getting a reacuring role role in Lincoln Heights.

While Gods f Egypt was a bad movie, his charecter Thoth, god of knowledge and wisdom, was fun to watch.

However it was staring as T'challa/THe Black Panther in Captain America Civil War, Black Panther, and the last 2 avengers movies that really made him a superstar. Unfortunatly the brightest flames burned the quickest here.

Hail to the King

This should have been made in a different subforum, but rest in power King.

The man shot all four of his Marvel movies already knowing he had cancer. What a legend.

I hate this news, but also this is the third thread I've seen on the forums about this today. Do we not moderate stuff anymore?

Anyway, fucking terrible. I just saw on social media a discussion about how people reacted to Chadwick Boseman's last public appearance, where he appeared to have lost quite a lot of weight. There were people who were concerned, but also a lot of people making jokes like "Crack Panther".

I hope those fucks fully regret what they have done. Imagine making fun of someone for having cancer.

This is most unhappy news. Boseman was not only a magnificent T’Challa, but based on his other films a very capable talent with charisma and depth to spare.

Yibambe!

Threads merged in a slightly haphazard way that hopefully preserves everyone's heartfelt comments. Rest in peace, King.

I would recommend reporting any duplicate threads, this only came across my radar because I noticed a second thread on the Current Events board.

We also lost Wllford Brimmley a month ago but at least he'd managed to live a long life (Especially considering his diabetes) but Boseman was so young.

When the decade looks back on this, it's going to look at 2020 as "The problem child".

That's a darn shame. Rather liked his T'Challa and seen some of his other roles. Man did good work.

Strenght and all the best to his family and loved ones.

Rest in peace brother. You are a strong man. I was gonna break this to my mom on Monday, but she already knows thanks to my cousin. Meaning my dad probably already knows.

This is so sad for the world to lose such a great talent and good person at such a young age. They REALLY need to lower the age they start screening for Colon Cancer. They do not start regular screening until age 50 in the US, thus most insurers to not cover it fully in the US prior to this, making it too expensive for most to do before this and also only results in Physicians not pushing for patients to have screenings until they are older or already showing severe symptoms. The problem of course is they need to find it before you have severe symptoms to increase your chances of survival. My grandfather on my mother's side died of colon cancer. My Dad's mom found her's by accident. She was in a coma from a car accident when they found hers, so yea the world is rather strange when getting her car hit by a train and put her in a coma actually saved her life. She lived to almost 100 after that so it was a strange blessing in disguise.

The US needs to have the age reduced for screening and needs to have insurers cover it 100% so we can reduce the number of people we lose to this.
