The reason I have not addressed the marijuana legalization as an environmental justice policy is I do not think it would have enough traction to get the votes in either the general population or in congress, so I see that as a non winning issue. We first have to have a no enforcement policy on Marijuana on the federal level while trying to work towards just legalizing it before we could even manage to try to work in environmental justice because I don't think we will be able to initially pass it as a combined package due to opposition from both republicans and democrats depending on their region. We have much more traction for marijuana legalization on the medical marijuana front than anywhere else. From there we could move to have it OTC like other OTC medications like Tylenol or advil for example. Tying that into the much larger project such as environmental justice, which is a HUGE one, just look at the issues with trying to clean up their messes on reservations and you will see that, will make it more difficult to pass as most of those issues are dealt with on a county and city level as well as state level rather than just on a federal level alone. I'm not saying it is a bad idea, I just do not think it currently has the momentum to gain the votes necessary to make it a reality yet, In other words, we have so many other things on our plate right now, they will not see having room for that one yet. They will not view it as a priority, so they will not be willing to barter other things in order to gain the bribes necessary to pass it.Really, if you have why do I keep bringing up marijuana legalization as an environmental justice policy and a jobs policy uniquely suited to post-fossil fuels Appalachian economic development? Chop chop, not a rhetorical question, I'm waiting. It's only been the centerpiece of most posts I've written about this specific topic.
The post fossil fuels Appalachian plan that Hilary Clinton had was awesome. No one cared or more likely even bothered to go to her site and read it. Her plan focused on shifting everything to green jobs tied into her infrastructure funding already in her first years budget. It also focused on federal funding for education so that people would be able to switch into the new jobs being provided by her infrastructure expansion to the region to meet her goals of powering all the homes in the US through renewable energy within like 10 years if I remember correctly.I talked about that a great deal on here, but all I heard in return was she was murdering people and her charity was covering up "pay for play action". So I didn't discuss it further. it didn't get her the votes where she needed them either and she had a great plan already budgeted in. If this plan didn't work for Hillary to gain votes, why would it work for Biden to gain them either?
